    Anybody into indoor plants?
I bet I've bought a dozen new ones over the last week..
I had to throw out all the old mature ones, bc they had gotten infested with fungus gnats ( CRAP THOSE THINGS SUCK!) They literally infested all the plants, I think they came in thru some top soil/mulch stuff.

It was like a never ending war trying to kill them. What a pain in the ass they were.

I don't know if a Bug-A-Salt would work on gnats but it would be fun trying. It's good for fly's.

Thanks sir. It's small enough to not require whole lot of effort. Oh and we have 8 or 9 mature pines on the property. I'll take them over oaks anytime. No fall leave clean up :D

For those interested in seeing a pretty good documentary (I posted it a long time ago in here, but no one ever commented) But it's actually good...
Also that commented on the nitrogen in the wood chips, he covers a lot about wood chips, it's what got me started.. Altho he does mention adding some of his chicken sharts at points.

But this being a garden thread, you all must have at least some interest in gardening, I encourage you to watch it, it is really interesting..

There's a lot of other videos on youtube of him walking around answering questions etc.. People travel from all over to see his garden and ask him about it.

Ive been trying to kill some weeds and some unwanted grass in areas, and the day I spray it rained that night...I got some of them but others didnt affect. I hate you have to wait a few days to even tell if you got them enough. So yestereday I sprayed again...see what happens...

The fight continues. After last years Sand fire that burned 40K acres and started just across the 14 freeway where I live all the critters are making a pilgrimage to where there is still green stuff.
So far this week alone 7 Rats, 1 gopher and 1 King snake.

My wife called me as I was just leaving work tonight in a panic that there was another snake in our yard. I asked is it black and white striped? Yes she replied. I said it's just another California King snake, it's harmless. Just keep the dogs in the house and I will take care of it when I get home. So 45 minutes later I grab a snake tongs and a cooler so I can carry it off to a safer place. My wife has been looking out the back door keeping an eye on it the whole time. I walk up on it and the snake has gotten itself tangled in some bird netting and was stone cold dead. Haha good thing she had kept watch on it. Now my trash can is starting to stink even though I have been putting them all in large ziplock bags. Trash day will be a day late this week too.

Oh yeah, After I informed her it was dead and went to get a box knife to cut it out of the netting she got brave and decided to go Chuck Norris on it with a shovel.

We have wrought iron fences around the yard and I have installed 1/2" mesh around 3/4 of the yard. This weekend I get to install it around the rest of it to keep the snakes out.

I have in 10 Gallon pots a Moro Blood Orange, Improved Meyer Lemon, Bearrs Lime, Calamanci and a 3 in one Asian Pear. I'm waiting until I get a retaining wall built with a 4' planting bed to put them in the ground. I have in ground a Granny Smith Apple, Pink Lady Apple and a 4 in 1 with Nectarines, Apricots and Peaches. I will move them once I get the wall built.

Thanks Danny but I'm talking about 100+ feet of 5' tall retaining wall. I think even I will leave that to the professionals.

Picture removing about 1/3 of this slope and adding the wall. that should give me a lot more room out back.

    6. An organic spray that is very popular amongst many growers is BT, (Bacillus thuringiensis). BT is a natural bacterium in the genus Bacillus, and has been used as an insecticide for over 50 years which has been proven to be very safe for the environment and humans.

I do sweet long and hot peppers. Salsa was just too much work. We normally do pickles, but didn't plant any this year.

    Don't sell it though.
