Some prepping done to the Harley for paint... hopefully today. It's taking me FOREVER to mask off everything and scuff it up. I'm going to leave some of the metal exposed so I'm trying to make the scuffing look straight. :)

Some serious Sporty work done today. Super cool looking IMO, but a TON of work. Masking and prepping took me about 10 hours. Painting about 1. Crazy. Anyway, pics:

    Masking:

Left head prepped, right head not. Pretty big difference...

Derby cover all scuffed up to look like brushed aluminum:

    IMG_0951.jpg

All taped off and ready for paint:

    Third and final coat:

    Couple more pics of prep.

    None as of yet.
And for your ray10s did you actually have to get a hold of scs? For the past 4 months it just says sold out. I may have to order while over seas and just wait to put on when I get home.

Ray10s were always sold out when I got mine last August. Decided to PM Vin to get on the waiting list. 2 days later a new shipment arrived. He emailed me a purchase order and within a week they were sitting in my garage. Maybe I lucked out, but it's worth a shot if you really want a set.

Yeah, I waited until they got them. He has a thread that you can follow that discusses shipments and what not. Check it out and I bet you'll land some.

Got the motorcycle unmasked. Fingers are hurting from pulling the stupid tape around the lifters.

Thanks man! I've got to get the new bolts to replace the black ones. I figured I'd get in there better if I just painted over them. That should make it pop pretty well!

Do you mean the transmission bolts? I love how most of the other bolts I can see in those pics contrast the black quite well

You've got it. All of the cam bolts and primary cover bolts will be silver. The contrast will match the rest of the engine. I'm excited to see it.

Went and got tires dismounted ready for paint. Also came home from Orlando with a TON of packages. Gonna start putting her back together this weekend.

    Parts in:

Also caught a glimpse of these beauties. Makes me love my Springer even more!

Nash Pudgy Gimps just showed up. Only went 12" since I liked the height on other bikes. Not sure what size of cabling I'm going to need quite yet. Have to see once I get everything together. Probably will do +4 just to be safe. Also allows for a little bit of upgrade for the next owner if they want to get a little more height.

Little bit of work done today. Took longer than expected. Stupid in/lbs torque wrench broke, so I had to pick up a new one. Plus the brake lever I got was missing the internal bushing so it's all floppy on the peg. Had to order that from Harley. Oh well. Anyway, pics below:

Right hand control housing and buttons replaced:

    IMG_1050.jpg

    After...

Thing is so fenagley but got it done. Then replaced all of the bolts on Cam and Primary covers:

    IMG_1051.jpg

    IMG_1052.jpg

Also replaced belt guard with "bullet hole" guard and new rear shocks from a Nightster (will drop it about 2.5 inches)...

Put the coil and ignition relocation kit on and the new cables. I think I cut them a little too short, but oh well.

    IMG_1061.jpg

    IMG_1063.jpg

Also got the intake manifold put back on. No carb just yet. Waiting for the new choke cable and then I'll throw that back together.

    IMG_1064.jpg

And got the front sprocket cover back on too...

    IMG_1065.jpg

Also, replaced the housing and buttons on the left hand control. That went WAY easier than the right control.

Got some stuff done today and split out the parts that are going to paint vs the parts going to powder. I'm surprised that there's not more, but then again I just bought some parts so that I wouldn't have to. Anyway I was out there for about 6 hours and it doesn't seem like much, but good progress. It took me about 3 1/2 hours to run the wires through the handlebars... not too bad considering what I've heard others say (~8 hrs). Going to get wiring, clutch, and throttle cables now that I've checked lengths. Love these bars by the way. They are SICK! Anyway, pics below:

    Bars mocked up:

    IMG_1093.jpg IMG_1094.jpg

    Right foot controls back together:

    IMG_1095.jpg

Left foot controls put back together with new shifter:

    IMG_1096.jpg

    New BLACK rear brake:

    IMG_1097.jpg

    Handlebar wiring run:

    IMG_1098.jpg

Yeah, I taped them down so they wouldn't accidentally run back through. Probably unnecessary, but after all that work the last thing I want is having to do it again...

    IMG_1099.jpg

Also, this is the THIRD time I've tried to put the exhaust on. This time I was fouled up by a bent circlet off the original pipes. I should have checked. Looks like a drive down to Harley to get 2 new ones. Stupid...

Pretty sure your gorgeous truck will be where I get majority of my mod inspiration from. Especially tires. Everyone here keeps trying to convince me to get the toyo mts but don't think I will. Still having the issue of really choosing what lift kit I want.

I've had Toyo's, Nitto's, and BFG's, and IMO, the BFG's ride the best of all of them. Yeah, might not be the best for offroad, but extremely capable and have great on-road manners. What lifts are you looking at?
