Are you talking about Sherwood -ft bragg rd? I have friends in brooktrails and plan a drive out to the coast after I visit them at some point this summer. Earlier this year the road was gated due to trees and slides.

Yeah. It's always closed in winter but it should be opened seasonally by now, but it remains closed due to a slide.

I don't suppose anyone here works weekends and is off through the week, like me? I work Fri-Sun and am off Mon-Thur. 4 days off through the week is awesome to get out and do shit, but no one else has that schedule (except my wife but I don't always want to hang out with her!).

rub it in a lil more. forest is the best on the weekdays. you can get a lot or info from the forest service workers and the rangers are a lot cooler when you are not the drunk weekend crowd.

LOL, Oh I know. It just gets lonely out there sometimes! Ha!

Actually, no shit, I have never seen a forest ranger on a weekday.

I'm off Monday-Tuesday, but Sonora is a long way from the lost coast.

No plans yet, but definitely up for something. I can do local, or travel. I'm off Friday through Sunday afternoon.

It seams that 120 is lower on the priority list. I'm not sure who opens it: cal trans or the Park Service.

I think the park service has to wait until all their facilities thaw out to open. I know the waste water system is going to be a bear to get running this year and they can't open the other stuff until they have the ability to take da poo

Thanks to @Camby for learnin' me up about the spot in the Los Padres NF. got a great spot, wife and I both had a blast and found a new camp spot. Here's a tip for anybody taking Naciamento road in: Google maps might have you try and take a short cut through military training areas at Fort Legitt, don't do it. Just take Naciamento all the way just past the fire station and join up the FS roads from there. Bonus pic from the area where my wife said "I don't think google maps is right this time"

it was pretty busy for the middle of the woods, all the good spots were spoken for by mid day, we got there about three and got one of the last good knobs in the area.

It is the busy camping weekend, but it felt great coming down from our private little ocean view knob and passing packed campground after packed campground. Did anybody try the area near bowman lake or surrounding this weekend? I know that road that leads to it is closed after a certain point but I wonder how much snow is still on the ground in the general area. Any reports?
