I just bought a 2007 Tacoma Double Cab Short Box TRD last week. It is a US truck sold new in Mobile Alabama, and was imported into Canada in early 2008. It has some very unique options that I have never seen before in a Taco. For starters, it has leather seats, and the driver and passenger seats are heated. There is also a very cool interior lighting feature. A button on the console labeled "illumination", press it once, the front 2 cup holders and the inside of center armrest light up amber. Press it again, blue lights shine down from the drivers and passengers foot wells. Press it a third time the amber lights (from the first push) go out and just the blue stay on. One more press turns them all off. Finally the interior mirror has a subtle blue light that shines downward onto the stereo area, and can be changed to amber and soft white. Does anybody know if these are factory items? I was always under the understanding that leather was never offered in a Taco in Canada and in the US.

Leather was offered in 2009 in Canada, not sure about previous years. Many people have added leather to their Tacomas. The lights are most likely installed by a previous owner.

Nope, typical accessories, box cover, steps, grille inserts...but aside from that, stock. The seat heater switches and the illumination button look right at home in there, and those lights I mentioned are so tucked away, you'd never know they were there.

This is the dealer-installed interior lights package. I had it installed on my 2009. It's nice for aesthetics, but that's about it. It's available as a dealer installed option, and I *think* it's only available at SouthEast Toyota dealerships.

Also, some dealers offer a dealer-installed leather option as well...the seat heaters I'm not sure about, but from a technical perspective they wouldn't be that hard to integrate if you're already redoing the upholstery...

And yeah...those lights weren't cheap, but every time someone's ridden with me at night I have them on I always get questions and compliments (typically, "man, that looks cool!"). The only useful bit I can figure is if you need to root through the cupholder or console for toll both change at night.

They are really well done, whoever did them. The seat bottoms and seat backs are both heated, high and low.

My bet is interior lights are dealer installed, the seat setup is a custom job done up by a private shop somewhere.
