Got in the truck yesterday morning, fired her up and got a check engine light and trac off light. I live in NJ (full serve only), checked the gas cap, and yup loose. Tightened it up, but no lights off after a couple hundred miles.

Truck is still under warranty, so I plan to take it in, but have any of you had these lights turn on simultaneously? Runs and drives fine.

Yes it was the gas cap also.
Disconnect the negative battery cable for about 15 minutes and it should clear the lights and codes. If it comes back check cap again and run an obII scan on it and pull the codes.

So it's typical for traction control to disable itself along with check engine? I suppose every vehicle has it's idiosyncrasies.

I'll give the reset a go, see if it clears the code.

 if the problem is corrected the computer will clear the light after it recheck, x number of miles at specified conditions. No battery disconnect needed.
Get someone to check the code and then go about correcting the problem. Normally code checks are free at major parts stores..
