    Work in progress
Hey all, new to the community. Went through a few hiccups in my search for a canopy and roof rack for my 2016 aclb due to my unique requirements. I searched all kinds of things, and most led me to this web site. So I thought maybe it's time I join. Backround is I'm Toyota thru and thru, girlfriend owns a jeep and it disgusts me, she redeems herself by changing my socks for me after a long hard day of work. I'm also Canadian, and it seems canopies are much more expensive here. My dilemma was the boat I want to carry on the roof rack of the soon to be canopy I own. Might help someone somewhere to describe my experience.

First being canopy weight limits. Not all are designed for off road use, and not many are designed for the weight I intend to put up there. My choice of manuf was ARE, for their HD option. Basically a laminated bracing within the canopy.

The next issue is dimensions. The boat naturally increases in height at the front or bow. And when flipped over the nose would likely be touching my cab roof, so I opted for a mid rise, mx series cap to be specific. Aside from the nose, the width of the rack on top must be at least 60". Not sure of the width of the factory rack option for the HD series which holds a ton of weight, but I assume it's not wide enough for my 58" wide boat. So I opted for factory Yakima tracks on the cap. I'll be getting rhino rack HD load bars, and RLT 600 towers with Yakima track adapter to accommodate weight up to 220 lbs, and 65" bars that may be cut to size. More bars will be added to accommodate more weight in the future.

Lastly, I was going to opt for the OTR option on the cap, love this feature but the taco is white, and would be a lot of black up there, may look terrible so decided against it. (Also, tip.. look for coupons or deals on cap manuf websites, ARE's special offers apply in Canada too, I also haggled my cap dealer for a better price and it saved me a few $$$)

Black accessories on a white truck is my weak spot. Will keep updates coming with further progress, such as running boards, blacked out badges, and the custom platform for my roof rack I intended to fabricate sometime in the fall/winter.

    Cheers to you yoties.
