2012 Tacoma bought used- 80k on her. Crawled underneath to take a look at something and noticed a leak. Judging by the spots on the car port it appears to be very slow. Here are some pictures. I have not banged the vehicle on anything.

Also noticed this weird texture stuff...

Thank you for your time and help.

    yep..
Can you follow that oil up to a source with a flashlight? Maybe the front diff fill bolt not tight enough/bad gasket.

When did you buy it? Maybe the dealership changed the oil and spilled all over as well.

    No problem

Fyi, the fill plug is similar to the drain plug pictured, 10mm allen socket with some writing on it. Just above the to the right. Hopefully the oil is coming from there.

I also have thay rubbery stuff sprayed all over the underside. Not sure what it's purpose is.. Maybe some sound deadening/soft surface for rocks to hit?

Oh that's a bummer but not the end of the world. It seems the diff seal is leaking to me, but someone else will chime in. If you bought the truck from a dealership recently <30 days or whatever is in the contract, they need to fix that free of charge.

Yes I bought it in southern GA at the end of April- we then drove it out to Colorado. I've put about 2500 miles on it.

I know some dealerships do a 1 or 2 month warranty That can be nixed if you go over a certain mileage. I'd check the oil level before doing more driving. Take out that socket plug in the second pic. Ideal oil level is filled until its dripping out. If youre going to drive much more, you may want to buy a qt. of 75w90 gear oil and fill until its dripping out.

    I bet you're fine as it's a slow leak..

Good to know. I purchased a 50k pinnacle coverage from National Autocare- that had better cover it. I will check the oil level- probably a 20 mile drive to dealership. This typically a quick fix?

Drivers side diff seal...about 45 mins worth of work...not a fun job. I would fix it asap because leaking gear oil smells and it sucks and gets everywhere.

The dealership can take care of that pretty quickly. Definitely a wait while they work job. I imagine they do a lot of these.

At a trusted garage they replaced the CV axles and one seal. I have a feeling the dealership is going to shit on me for after market parts and not full fill my warranty. Should I pretend (since I bought this used) I have no idea about the newly replaced CV joints?

They cannot shit on you due to aftermarket parts, unless that aftermarket part actually caused a failure. That is why we have the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.
