Ok, that’s the million dollar question. I hear about recalls, I hear about tranny issues. I need some current 2017 owners to chime in and tell me the pros and cons. I am going from a 2015 TRD off road to a 2017 SR5. First of all, damn if the car insurance hasn’t went up on these things??? I am looking at a Blazing blue or a Quicksand color, the quicksand was on the recall but they could not find anything wrong (duh….its brand new, no miles on it !) The blue one was not on the recall. How do they know which ones to recall and which not. 228,000 trucks is a lot of trucks to recall. Anyone have comments on the tranny issues? Whats up with that?

It's a trail killing, ball busting, bitch. We just took it to Texas for a road trip. Killer tech for the road. (and 24 MPG over the 1000 miles to Fredricksburg)

So...Don't if you gotta question it.

Have you not read the 3rd gen section? It has all the info you need. Threads like this are a waste of time.

Mine has no problems at all, but I guess I don't understand why you would trade a 2015 TRD OR for a 2017 SR5?? What's wrong with your 2015?

I've had my share of issues, but it's still a great truck after I did work on it... u-bolts, u-joints, correct torque to lugs/driveshaft, fill low tranny, tranny TSB rev 1, etc., Should it be that hard? No. But when properly assembled and lubricated, it's a pretty awesome truck.

Depends on who you ask. Smitty will say that all of them are trash and will blow up if you look at them wrong.
