So recently there's been a jump in auto thefts every month and the most targeted vehicles are Toyota pickups (mostly 1980-2004 yrs) I only have the club on my steering wheel, but it's easy to cut wheel for theives. What's the other best options for car theft security that's not too pricey??

Kill switch. Or some kind of alarm system that disengages the starter if it's triggered. Either one won't matter though if the thief uses a flatbed and just drives away with your truck.

    I rely on the latter, as well as this (see pic below). The best anti-theft system in America, especially in a large city like the one I live in;

I don't see (or hear of) too many people using a flat bed to take a vehicle (aside from parking enforcement, lol), but I'm sure it's happened once or twice.

There is NO sure fire way to prevent a theft.

The best you can do is make your vehicle *less desirable* to steal than the one next to you. So things like not leaving crap that looks valuable on the floor, or parking in a well lit/well populated area, or just not living in a high crime area (I know, you don't really have control over that, more or less).

A hidden kill switch is a good idea, but all that does is prevent (or at least delay) them from starting it *after* they've already broken in and done a bunch of damage...

In all honesty, the best solution is to get a security system (and use it!), get the thing fully insured, and don't get emotionally attached to your rig.

Extreme method, but it would definitely deter thieves

Pass a chain through the rims of the rear tires and around the leaf springs. No way a thieve is going to drive away with your truck, as it would rip the truck's rear end apart, making it useless. Makes it harder to put on a flatbed too, as the truck won't be too willing to get onto it either

Could also chain the front tires too. Together or to the frame itself

Though, if you forget to unchain the tires before a ride, ouch.....

haha, after the damage that would likely cause $$$$-wise, I'd probably just wish that the thief had gotten away with my truck instead.

Edit: on second thought, no I wouldn't. But I wouldn't be all that much happier.

yeah, as I said, it's an extreme method of theft prevention, haha

It would cause lots of damage to the truck if thieves are dumb enough to attempt to drive it away. It would make the truck useless for them, but for its owner too. So basically, the truck is nearly destroyed it if is disturbed... well, its drivetrain at least

Cheapest and most effective method is a kill switch. They can come prepared to beat standardized systems, finding a kill switch if they even realize there must be one is another ball game.

yep, if it is well hidden, they won't bother to search extensively to find it

Thieves don't like to spend too much time with a car they are trying to steal

Hell yeah, that's where I grew up....graduated from Canyon High in '03.

I'm going to start a post in the Wheeler's Anonymous thread pretty soon to try and get some guys to commit to a MJT trip one of these coming weekends (probably not this one because I have some other stuff going on)...keep an eye on that thread we're always looking to do runs together!

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Custom license plate and tons of other identifying shit like a custom bumper.

Also I don't park in shit holes.
