What brand is the light bar under the rack? Looks super slim.

How do you like the Autohome? I'm really considering selling my Tepui for one to try to reduce setup and take down time...

It's about the same as a Rigid SR40. The rest of my lighting is Rigid, but I really didn't want to blow $1000 on a roof light bar lol. Figured I could replace it 10x over for the cost of a Rigid. So far it hasn't failed me at all and I've used it pretty often.

The Autohome is awesome, the best part about it is the setup time. Have had mine in a variety of weather now and other than a really really windy night (prob 60+ over a ridge) it hasn't skipped a beat. I like that I can leave all my bedding inside and close it, would be hard to do with a soft RTT. The cloth material is a lot better also.

My Icon's with #700 look the same too passenger side with steel everything plus winch. I had to preload driver side about 1/4 inch to counteract the famous Taco Lean.

Made it out to DVNP last month with @Baoser @sytfu510 @NoOneBetter @MJonaGS32 @kalieaire @247daryl and a few others. It was my first time out that way and only did about a quarter of the park. I'll probably hit it back up in the fall.

    Wyoming/Colorado Traverse- 08/2017

Been slacking a bit on the trip reports lately on account of having the truck down for some extended time.

    Last August, we took a group of 8 trucks (@NoOneBetter @kalieaire @Gabex35 @bustabenl @w3tw0rks @Magnetic4R @errweezy) through a total of 4 states and more than 3500 miles.

We hit the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, watched a total solar eclipse at camp in Teton National Forest in Wyoming, blazed the trails of history through the Oregon Trail in Wyoming, hit the Continental Divide as we traversed through Colorado's numerous forests and mountain peaks, and topped it all off with a run through the San Juans, Ouray, and Telluride.

Pics are from @NoOneBetter, myself, and some friends to make this story possible.

First stop, the Salt Flats in Utah- about 12 hours in to our drive we stopped for our first camp of the trip. We were all pretty exhausted, but excited to start our journey.

For the eclipse, we’d mapped out a campsite in the middle of the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming, lying directly in the path of totality. We’d run into a ranger who suggested an even better campsite that wasn’t as populated. Can’t argue with that.

Spent the next day around camp just goofing around. Apparently @Gabex35 got a little too friendly with fireworks (or so I was told). We settled in for a night underneath the stars.

And were greeted with an awesome solar eclipse the following day…

We’d originally run into Woody while still heading to Wyoming and offered for him to camp with us. We ran into him again while airing back up leaving camp. An impromptu overlander truck meet gathered in the gravel parking lot, with Kurt from XO in tow. Plenty of cool rigs to check out.

We bid our farewells, and headed for Lander, Wyoming in search of our next campsite.

Blazing down the Oregon Trail, I couldn’t help but find a sense of irony. There’s just something about driving down the same dirt road the pioneers did in wagons centuries before, in Japanese trucks, with our portable fridges and roof top tents.

With the sun rapidly setting, we stumbled on our first roadblock. About 100 yards from our planned campsite at the Sweetwater River, we were met with a fence right across the Oregon Trail. Several nearby no trespassing signs warned that it was private property.

Opting not to trespass, and unable to find a clearing to camp for the night, we detoured several miles until we found another dirt track leading us around the private land. We stumbled into camp way past dark. Our alternate campsite proved to be just as nice as our initially planned campsite. We woke up alongside the Sweetwater River, a historic wagon crossing for pioneers and settlers.

As we continued down the Oregon Trail the following morning, we discovered an older style building with some people sitting outside. They approached as we rolled up, and invited us to take a tour around. We learned that on this very site in 1856, over 400 men, women, and children had been halted on the Oregon Trail during a particularly brutal winter that claimed the lives of over 100 of their party. Some of the names of those who stayed during that winter can still be seen etched in the rocks surrounding the site.

As we walked back to our trucks, one of the LDS missionaries asked to join us on the last leg of the Oregon Trail with his Jeep. We obliged and he walked to the back of their camp to retrieve his truck. Keep in mind, he looked to be in his 60s or so, and we were half expecting a beat up Willys to come out. Imagine our surprise when a sweet JKU barrels around the corner, with an LS swap, King shocks, and a whole laundry list of other goodies. We hit the last section of the Oregon Trail with him, including a few muddy water crossings.

@errweezy got a little too gratuitous with the throttle, and nearly hydrolocked. We spent about a half hour drying his airbox and air filter, which had sucked up a ton of muddy water from the crossing.

We said farewell to our new Jeep friend, and made our way down to Colorado. Too tired to take many photos after coming in to camp, we settled in for a night in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest.

We traversed a good portion of the following day alongside the Colorado River on dirt roads, and took a short hop through Hagerman Pass just outside of Leadville, Colorado. Hagerman Pass is a rocky, moderate trail that passes through several scenic overlooks, reaching just under 12,000ft elevation before crossing the Continental Divide.

After descending Hagerman Pass, we found a campsite nestled deep within the San Isabelle National Forest, and settled in to our million star hotel beneath the Milky Way.

We hit pavement to from San Isabelle to Lake City, catching some stunning glimpses of the San Juan Mountains along the way. We filled up, and made our way over to Cinnamon Pass- hoping to hit Poughkeepsie Gulch before dark. Sadly, with daylight rapidly fading and with a storm rolling in, we opted to skip the gulch after just one attempt at scaling the wall.

We settled in to our final campsite in the San Juans, and last day in Colorado. Overall, an unforgettable adventure with some friends.

And on the drive back, no one was against a night in Vegas compared to another night camping.
