Alright guys, I know this subject has been covered to death, but I'm about to order and just wanted to post in case anyone had something to throw in, or correct me if I'm missing something I need to order.

So my truck, 2000 TRD access cab, 150k, shocks are basically dead and leafs are pretty much flat.

Ideally I would buy all new leaf packs, but that simply isn't in budget right now, so my plan is, toytec lift with 5100's, set at middle setting (should be 1.75 I believe) on stock coils, with AAL rear. Again I realize that new eibach (sp?) coils would be better. But again I'm having a hard time with the extra cost.

Hopefully that should give me about a 2 inch lift, and much better ride. Also, I'm thinking with only 2 inches I can skip the diff drop kit, thoughts?

Anyone with personal experience on this would be great, especially curious on a comparison of stock coils vs aftermarket, on an otherwise stock truck.

    Thanks!

I think you might have to use the top setting with the stock coils if you want any lift, albeit it's minimal. That's where mine where after I had the 5100s installed. Stock coils are shorter than the Toytecs. I had the Toytec coils installed on the middle setting.

    Stock coils on top setting.

Toytec coils on middle setting. I believe the bottom setting will give you factory ride height.

I have a Toytec AAL and if you do bilstein 5100's on the front you will have to go with the top setting for it to be close to level. My truck is almost dead level with 5100's on the front "top setting" with stock 595 rate springs and the AAL out back.

Stock 595lb rate coils w/bilstein 5100's on the top setting and Toytec AAL.

Don't forget a BPV relocation bracket, or just make one yourself.

What are you running for rear lift in those pics? And what size tires? Looks fairly big to me.
So it's okay to run stock coils and the shocks at the top position? I called toytec and they said that's pre loading the shock a lot and it won't ride very well..

So how does your truck ride? That would be about exactly what I would do if it rides okay with the shocks at max height.

Ah thanks, totally slipped my mind

I think it rides pretty well. Firm, but not bad at all. I came from a Toytec 2.5" spacer lift in the front on stock coils and it rode terrible to be honest, compared to what it rides like with the 5100's.

I had a local blacksmith shop re-arch the leaf springs and they also added a thicker leaf. Gave me about 3". I'm running 285/75-16s.

I didn't find the ride to be harsh with the preload. Certainly not any harsher than the Toytec coils I have now. Using a lower setting would have given me a little too much rake. I knew I was going to replace the coils, so I just rolled with it.

That's good to hear, I don't mind a firm ride at all, so long as it's manageable and has decent travel still. I'm not even set on a certain amount of lift, but they said no matter what that the AAL will give me 2" in the rear so I want it to somewhat match. I don't mind a little rake like it is stock, but I don't want it looking like a dragster lol.

Awesome, thanks for the info. It honestly rides so bad now with the worn out shocks that anything is going to be a huge improvement. So long as it is still has decent offroad travel I'll be a happy camper
