I agree, he hooked me up big time on my long travel kit, but for OP it would be 20 hours driving round trip. Probably cheaper to pay a good gear shop or off-road shop to swap out a third and clamshell from ECGS.

    Potato. Obviously. duh...

OP: just search for gear/drivetrain shops or 4x4 shops in your area (goggle). I'm sure there's a 4wheelparts or something in your area

I live in Redding and the closest 4wp is two and a half hours south in Sacramento. I PM'd him but he hasn't responded.

I just meant 4wheelparts in a more generic term, like kleenex or Xerox. There's gotta be some fabrication shops, 4x4 shops, etc... up in that area. I mean, there's enough of you hillbillies up there, that there's gotta be something he can use... :)

Yeah, there's not much here to choose from. It's more like if you know someone who can work on your truck for ya. And most of the shops thst say they can do it, charge you a lot and can't do it right. All they know how do do is install lift kit that they sell. Hell you can't even find a place up here to align your LT truck. My buddy found that out the hard way. I didn't know you had to align them differently. I only have a mid travel Tacoma. There is one shop that strictly works on Toyotas and he SAS's them. That's all he does.

I grew up in Sonora. Even more red-necky than Redding (at least in some respects, lol).

Back in the day, my brother and I worked on his 86 4Runner (that I eventually bought off him). We ran rear leafs off a mix of nissan and toyota and welded new spring hangers and got something like 20" of travel. Then did a *little* work on the front end: basically just shocks, torsion bars, and low profile bumpstops. We aligned it ourselves using carpenter's levels and a LOT of measuring with a tape measure. Worked out pretty well, actually. Drove the thing for at least another 100k miles before I blew the motor.

If you're ever in Redding and having a bad day go into the Liquor Barn off Bechelli Ln. Always cheers me up.
