    Bringing this thread back...
Moving to Cville at the end of the month and need to switch cell carriers, how good is Sprint in the Cville area?

Also any of y'all into shooting? Where are good places to shoot?

I can't comment on Sprint, but I don't have any problems with Verizon when I am in Charlottesville. I hope that helps.

As far as shooting, I typically shoot on our property outside of Richmond. There is Blue Ridge Arsenal next to Bass Pro in Ashland. A long time ago, I used to shoot at a club in New Kent, but I can't recall the name, nor do I know if they are still around. None of this probably helps you since you are moving to Cville though.

Also, this is my first post to TW. I've been lurking for a while, but recently joined. I live just outside of Richmond, but I work downtown. I bought a 2015 TRD Sport double cab a month ago with 6,000 miles on it. I also have a Jeep WJ that I was building into a rockcrawler, but I rarely wheel and it sucks to drive on the road. So i will be selling it soon and using some of that money to put into the Tacoma. My plan is to keep it fairly simple, but build it into a capable camping/hunting vehicle as I need something to haul my duck boat and get me into the swamps we duck hunt. I look forward to meeting some of the local guys around and I will happily turn a wrench if anyone needs help!

    Welcome to TW!

After talking to friends/family in the area they say any of the big 3 will be fine.
I'll have to look into some clubs.

I have some friends down in Richmond area but I've only been there to the airport.

@willee51 I'm in Woodbridge but my folks are in northern Albemarle. Depending on advance notice/scheduling I could be down for a meetup in the Cville area, gotta head that way to get to the mountains anyway. I've been up Reddish Knob and the Dunkle Hollow areas before but without armor or recovery gear that's about the extent of my adventures.

@95 taco No advice on cell carriers, but Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club is the only place I'm aware of around Cville/Albemarle Co. short of having a buddy with a farm. There's a small sighting-in/shooting range near Brandywine WVa but that's a bit of a haul just for some trigger time.

Someone on VAgunforum recommended the rivanna rifle and pistol club as well, I'll have to check it out, my cousins know a guy who has a farm and he has a range set up in his back yard, I'll have to get to know him as well.

June 10th? I might be down. I'm coming outta Richmond.

My only thing is I'm still sorta stock. Haven't managed to get the money to lift yet. I'm enough off the ground with my KO2's tho

Actually trying to maybe hit flagpole this weekend if I can find people

What kind of shooting are you looking for? If your just to find a range to plink then rivanna would be the closest. It's a nice range. I've shot IDPA up there a couple of times years ago. No clue on the memberships though.

If your looking for 3 Gun, USPSA, IDPA, or steel shooting and your willing to travel to either richmond or Montpellier then there is a match just about every weekend.

2nd Saturday is Steel shooting at Black creek gun club

3rd Saturday is USPSA at caviler gun club

4th Saturday is 3 Gun at Black creek gun club

You can register for the steel or 3 gun match at www.matchsignup.org & uspsa is at

    Awesome! Thanks for the info!
Looking for plinking right now, I'd like to get into comps, not sure if my budget will allow though, working 3 part time jobs currently and looking into taking classes at PVCC this fall.

Anytime... totally understand the budget constraints. Shooting competitions gets pricey especially when you start modifying your gun. If you choose to start shooting competitions and need some help on equipment to get then feel free to hit me up.

@tcBob based off what some of the fellers are saying in the other thread that you asked for help in, I think this thread is closer to that fella. Doesnt sound like the other thread is too happy about the name change. Didnt know TW was so segregated, thought we were all here to have fun and help each other out. Beats Me!

Yeah, you missed out on all the "fun" that happened between some involved within the two groups before you joined. There is a bit of bitterness still left I guess...

A couple of you are giving me suggestions on a proper name for that thread. Just trying to find a name that explains geographically where that thread is for.

No, I'm not happy. I made that thread and NO ONE asked before hand if it was OK to change anything about it. There is nothing in the thread that warrants an immediate change. If someone has ANY questions about why the thread was named such please PM me and I'll fill you in.

You can absolutely join in the fun on our thread.....

    Barge away.....

Geographically speaking the original title was nearly perfect, it's Fredericksburg and the outlying areas near there that are not north enough to be NOVA and not Tidewater (even though Fredericksburg is affected by the tides). If you have better ideas please, bounce them off me before changing anything - we are kind of fond of our thread.....
