    When I bought my house 30 years ago, it came with a woodstove insert already installed. I'm lucky in the sense that there is a big cold-air return inlet on the opposite end of the family room from the fireplace. I can crank up the woodstove and then just turn on the heat pump's blower and it will suck the heat from family room to and pump it to the rest of the house. One year we were able to heat the house entirely with wood and cut our electric bill by 50%.

    Sorry, but the only picture of the woodstove I have handy has my dogs in front of it.

    I've never met a Stihl small engine that started easily. I learned early to never, ever, touch the priming bulb on any Stihl. I had to replace the air cleaner element on my brand new Stihl weed whacker just to get it to start without having to take the spark plug out and dry it off; damned near threw it out before I tried that. Once they're started they're really great though.

    Chestnut, red, pin, scarlet oak and some ash. All great wood with good heat output. We had a huge die off of chestnut oak and ash in Pa due to gypsy moth and emerald ash borer, respectivly.

    I do full choke + full throttle until I hear it pop, then zero choke + full throttle. My old Homelite from Sam's Club was one bulb push and two pulls, started every time. Starting a Stihl is a major production in comparison.

    I'll say this for Stihl, once it's warmed up restarts are very easy and reliable.

    I do not touch the throttle until after it is running. The choke takes care of that.
