You try and pop a bogged rig with that and things are going to break. Tow straps are not for recoveries, for that you need a snatch strap or dynamic rope designed specifically for the job.

 

That may be the case in certain situations yes. But in the situation where someone doesn’t have a winch, or a snatch strap, this tow strap can help get you out of a sticky situation. It’s a good purchase for $16 and for someone who knows what they’re doing and uses common sense, it can get a truck out of a hole easy.

 

Does anyone know if you can use a soft shackle on this BP hook? I'd assume not because of the sharp edges but i'm not familiar enough with soft shackles. I'm looking at picking one up and thought it'd be nice to try out soft shackles as the advantages with safety and weight seem to be worth it.

 

Personally I wouldn’t be comfortable using a soft shackle on it, unless it had an abrasion guard around it.

 

That's kind of where i'm leaning towards as well. Do you have any opinion or working knowledge of a soft shackle with that feature?

 

There’s this one but it’s pretty thick. Should still fit in the shackle hole though, albeit tightly.

Why not just use a d ring for that? I wouldn't be super worried about it separating and becoming dangerous

Does anyone know where I can pick up some bolts for the BP Recovery hook? I checked out my local HD and didn't find the right size. I'm assuming I need 3 to replace the stock bolts.

This plus a shovel and some boards will get you out of a lot of trouble.

 

Checkout 4 Wheel Parts. They've got some quality products at competitive prices. Search around for coupon codes and have it shipped directly to you. It's weird how in-store pickup always ends up being more expensive.

On another note, just picked up this Smittybilt 5.65 CFM Air Compressor - 2781 and it's probably about the largest I could've gotten that still fits nicely behind the rear passenger seats.

 

i've got a viair unit thats a tad smaller..basically waiting on it to kick the bucket to upgrade lol. i'm a diesel tech so ive been kickin around the idea of plumbing some hose up to air one side of the truck up (2 tires at a time). Saw a product on some overlander video and was like not a bad idea bc...lets face it i'm lazy lol

 

This is the one to buy for an oh shit plan. If you really use it a lot, might as well get the best and buy a bubba rope. I didn't think the difference was much until I got pulled out of a mud pit once and those ropes are soooooo much smoother with all that stretch. I still have the ARB in my truck but the rope is on my to buy list at some point.

 

Made these axe + shovel brackets over the weekend. If you're comfortable with bending and cutting aluminum, it was fairly easy.

You'll notice the bent portion of the bracket rests against the bedside and on top of a flat contour. Combined with the T-Slot nuts in the bedrail, the mounts are extremely solid. There's no play to them whatsoever.
