Sliders/steel skids = considerably less ride height?

This may be a dumb question, but will I need to install a lift to get back my stock ride height after installing the 300+ pounds of protection on the truck? I'm new to this area of automotive and Google didn't help. I'm not really looking to lift the truck, but will if I need to based on weight. TIA

If you are worried about weight go with aluminum.

I am still stock suspension but have full skids, aluminum front bumper and steel high clearance rear. Haven't noticed any large change in ride height.

Considerably? No. Some? Yes. I have a front steel skid and sliders and my truck is slightly lower than stock. I have also noticed with the additional weight, while going down steep trails, the front dive is more significant.

Thank you and noted. any plans for the other skids?

Thought about helper bags or an extra spring (read about it somewhere on here). I'll be getting somewhat crazy offroad (ie, not turning around and trying what I think it won't make it through...)

Already gone steel and installing piece by piece in the afternoon. Bumpers are next, what rear did you go with?

i lost quite a bit of height with steel bumpers, sliders, winch and alum skids.

I went with pelfreybuilt. No swing out. I also have mobtown sliders with kick out &fill plates. Those added some weight but to me it's not a huge difference and doesn't bother me. I am planning to lift mine. 2" with 35s sounds about right. I will be happy to trim whatever is needed. Cut off more weight right? Haha

Fill plates get dirty? I ordered mine without because I don't want to clean them. Lazy, I know.

Fill plates so my kids don't break their leg stepping in between. I almost twisted my ankle a few times because it was slippery.

That's a dang good reason for fill plates.

ALL-PRO sliders and pack rack, Tepui Ayer RTT, Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners, OME 2" Med/Heavy, FJ Steel Wheels, 255 80 R17 BFG KM2s, Wilco Offroad Hitchgate Solo High Clearance
FWIW I have All Pro Sliders (75 lbs. a piece) and bed rack (80 lbs.) with a Tepui Ayer RTT (95 lbs.) ... add in my 65 qt Pelican (49 lbs. dry!), ice, beer, firewood etc. and my rear end is a sagging like a baby with a loaded diaper ... my leafs almost look flat, especially the front ends. Dealer said the amount of sag I'm experiencing is "normal" for my load (they only saw it with sliders, rack and tent: 325 lbs.). Oh, yeah, and they are squeaking very loudly and constantly. I have the Dakars with AAL pre-installed sitting at my house, installing next weekend ... I'm hoping this will rectify the issue, because as it sits now (without firewood cooler, etc.), I can feel my bump stops hitting if I go over a speed bump at 15 mph.

Yeah. With the fill plates and the textured powdercoat that mobtown uses I am very confident that slipping or getting injured using the sliders as steps is unlikely. My old truck with regular sliders, painted and no fill plates seems almost dangerous in comparison.

Edit: fillplates also block more debris from the road and you front tires from hitting your rocker area below the doors. I have noticed that area seems cleaner than it used to be after it rains.

Keep me posted. I've already noticed the front end down a bit and with a winch/hybrid bumper going on, I'm sure it'll be a little worse. I'm thinking 1" above stock if I go lifted.

    A few things
Ask a fat friend to dinner, volunteer to drive. Note how much the truck sags with him in it, problem solved.

That doesn't help clearance already lost.
