Chassis Unlimited front bumper or Westin 40-0905 Sportsman Grill Guard

Need opinions. I don't do any off-roading to speak of other than hunting but want to protect the front of my 2003 DBL cab 4x4 from animal impacts. The Chassis Unlimited bumper is $499.00 (bare metal) with free shipping and has a place for a winch (not sure how much I would use it BUT could be handy) and the Westin grill guard (black powder-coat) has no winch mount but is only $418.00 with free shipping. I think the grill guard "looks" better and would be simpler to install but the bumper may be "overkill". Anyone have thoughts?

 

a bumper would be a lot more durable than a grill guard, and worth the $75 extra + paint especially if the reason is hitting an animal. Although depending on your budget i'd look at a plate bumper with full hoops (protects the lights and middle hood area)

double the cost, so may be out of your budget, but would definitely provide more protection. another con would be that it is heavier so may need to up the front suspension as it weighs 110lbs.

 

Yeah it's nice but more than I want to spend.

 

Do a bumper!

Bull/grille guards do little to protect the vehicle from impacts. Many even argue they make damage worse.

perhaps, i just pulled it off the webs

 

bull bars/bush gaurds have alot of leverage on weak mounts (usually). they really cant take much of a hit and when they do they take rest of front end with it.
