Yes I know. The question posed a year ago is whether it can also beep like the cross traffic alert does. I was curious if there's anything new on this topic

thankfully it doesn't beep. It would get irritating really fast. All it is meant for is too complement your driving. Not take place of proper driving techniques.

In most cases, if [and that's a huge IF], a turn signal is used, the driver has already began taking over the new lane nano seconds before a turn signal is engaged....modern day driving habits for many. Unless the over the shoulder check is performed the beep may just serve as a validation the car sitting in your blind spot just got tagged.

I don't rely on mine much. The new technology is good, but not perfect. I'm on stock suspension and occasionally the lowered cars get missed. Over the shoulder check twice, and smooth planned transition works quite well without any audible indicators.

Does any one know if the dealer is able to change a seeing to make the BSM beep? My other vehicles beep.

Turning your head, looking both sides of the car. Not just when changing lanes but all of the time, staying aware as much of the time as possible of the vehicles that have been close and of vehicle that are moving rapidly (and sometimes recklessly) into your driving space.

Others have complained that the radar-guided cruise sensor can be blocked (or wait ... they also wonder if it broke and needs replaced?) so that they must now manually monitor their position behind other drivers.

RCTA is useful in crowed parking lots with people walking stupidly behind my truck (reverse lights are on!) staring at their phones.

But there is no substitute for the unheard of act of ... shock, horror ... staying aware of your surroundings.

Thanks, caribe, for posting the link. It gives lots of options for getting a wide angle view.

What prompted my response above was my wife insisting I install the stick-on mirrors on her Subaru Outback. (It's her second car with blind spot sensors.)

It'll cost you less than $10 and take you about 30 seconds to put them on. Try 'em for a week. I'll bet you'll never want to drive another car without them.

Pardon me for hijacking the thread.

Not a thread-jack. The other poster wants the technology to do the work. You explained how basic self-monitoring tools make life safer. I have never needed them because I do not tow trailers, but trucks pulling very large trailers I have seen with very large extended side-view mirrors to see beyond the trailer ... non-electronic tools that need human input to be most effective.
