Got Shafted on PRO Suspension

    2" Lift
    I bought what was advertised as a Tacoma Pro suspension on Craigslist. After installed I got zero lift on the front. Finally figured out it was a 4Runner PRO suspension, exact suspension as Tacoma PRO but shorter springs.

    I had 1" spacers on before I switched the coilovers to the PRO's and now I'm thinking of just putting those spacers on these PRO coilovers to get back to 2" lift since I also installed a 1.5" AAL to the rear. So now I'm 20.5" front and 24" rear. Does anyone see any issues with reinstalling the spacers on the PRO suspension?

    1" spacer for 2" lift will probably make the shock the limiting factor in travel.

    I'm pretty sure the 4Runner PRO shocks are the same as the Tacoma PRO shocks and if I had the Tacoma PRO springs I would have gotten 2" of lift. So I don't think it will limit the travel.

    Does the spacer mount in the strut with the spring or is it a top plate?

    If it is a top plate spacer it moves the entire assy downward which could mean a shock would bottom out on the up stroke before hitting the bump stop.

    I believe that is what PigPen was getting at.

    Did you check to see if the serial numbers are the same between the 4Runner and Tacoma front springs?

    Serial numbers are different and the 4Runner springs are a tad shorter.

    I thought the 4Runner ran a longer coil than the Tacoma

    I'd go get the bigger coil personally, but nothing specifically wrong with putting a spacer in. It just defeats the purpose of doing a suspension lift. Do you have a spring compressor and are you doing instal yourself? If so just shell out a couple hundred on a new set of coils. Thats what happens when you buy a suspension on Craigslist Lol. I'd just chock it up to a learning experience personally.

    PS while you are at it, trade the AAL for a Dakar pack ;)

    I'd think the pro shocks are better than stock, above spacer is just fine just shim down the bump stop to the same distance it was stock, a lot of people don't do this and complain when the shock bottoms out and bends or blowers out, well no shit it will lol common sense

    See my link on my $100 lift. 2.5" Top spacer is fine...IMHO the concern in the front is the shock becoming the limiting factor under compression. I went with Wheelers bump stop.

    Thanks guys!

    One more question, I'm just spitballing here, I don't want to get too high on the front and I'm at 20.5" now. Is that stock height on the front? I was thinking if 20.5" was a half inch over stock, then putting those 1" spacers on would put me at about a 2 1/2" lift which I would prefer to be at 2", max. Here's the spitballing question, I have a machinist at work that could turn down those spacers maybe 1/4" if there is noting wrong with doing that. It looks like they would have to be turned down from the top. What say you guys?

    Isn't that the ones from the other thread where the shocks have 2 grooves? I still like the idea of putting both shocks on the lifted grove and then put a lean spacer on the left. Or put a 1/2" lean spacer on the left, and a 1/4" lean spacer on the right.

    I swapped Tacoma coils on my wife's 4Runner. The Tacoma coils were slightly longer and she got a small lift out of it.

    Not Pro models though.

    Did you shim the bumps? Wheeler's bumps compress smaller than stock bumps.

    Correct, I'm at 20.5 with the PRO suspension. If I add the 1" spacers will that put me at 22.5", which is 2.5" over stock?
