I'm running the White Rim Trail next weekend. Anybody run it? I've been getting warnings from the NPS about high water on the trail from the Green River. Just wondering if anybody ran this recently and if so, how much water was on the trail between Potato Bottom & Labyrinth?

I know the NPS can be excessive with their warnings...

I can't speak for the conditions now, but a couple years ago I ran that part of White Rim during a rainstorm and it was super sloppy, much more water and one section might have been impassable. We decided not to camp at Potato Bottom because the camp spots were under a couple inches of water.

We're camping at Murphy's Hogback, so we should be good for camping... we're going clockwise. If we do run into any issues, we can just turn around and drive out and still have a good trip.

We camped at Murphy's as well. We were gonna make it a 2 night thing, but the rainstorm put the kibosh on that.

Bummer. The weather looks good for us so far.. and only a little bit of rain between now and then to swell the river. The gage has been going down, so I'm not anticipating any issues. But we will have a motorcycle with us and obviously he can't go through as much water as the trucks can.

We just got off the White Rim on Friday. The road was dry and the river was a few feet lower than the road between Potato bottom and the exit. We camped at Shafer, Murphy's, and Potato Bottom.

If there's any moisture though, it's going to be a sloppy mess, and several of the climbs are going to be sure to grab your attention!

Hmm.. just called Canyonlands. The ranger told me there is about an inch of water on the road. Hopefully it's not too sloppy for us!

Update: Never did make it to the river. We decided it wasn't worth potentially getting back to Denver at 2:00 AM. There was word that the rangers had it closed/turning people around. Still had a great time without making it the full trip.

Was there Friday and Saturday. Camped in candlestick. Never saw anybody drive pass our camp. We turned around and camped in Taylor. There was jeep that was able to pass but it was all tricked out snorkel and all. He said water was up to his door almost getting into the cab. Where did you camp?

Camped at Murphy's Camp. Great spot... but the wind was relentless until the sun went down.

Bit of a bummer... oh well. I guess I'll just have to go again.

We finished up White Rim clockwise on Friday June 2nd, there was about 2 feet of water in one of the washes that feeds into the Green river that crosses the road about 3/4 of a mile north of the Hardscrabble campsites.

I walked through it first and it was a little above my knees, so I drove the stock Tacoma right through with no issues. No other water on the trail other than that. For reference, the USGS site showed 17800 cf/s and a water height of 15.6 ft at the Green River sensor that's near there when we passed. Hopefully that'll give a gauge for what to expect for anyone going in later.

Here's a dashcam video of the crossing: https://youtu.be/PS1EO8GoxxM
