Finally!! I have finally got into a Tacoma, after years of lurking here and suppressing my want to own one. Went through several cars but I feel like I am finally home :), guess the utility trailer can take a backseat now.

It took an 8hr drive and a weekend to get it but I love it. As you know, SRs are hard to come by, 5MTs even more so.

Unfortunately my excitement has taken a hit already as I have noticed a leaky diff, jumping tach needle and the notorious front diff howl(goes away in 4wd) ..

If anyone in my area has Service dept recommendations, please post them. I hoped to dodge a lot of the 3rd gen issues by going 2.7L 5MT but what can you do :annoyed:

So really it's Bye Subaru, Hello TSBs(LOL) but I know I still love this truck.:mudding:

Should have kept the Subaru, and bought a utility trailer.

As mentioned, I did just that for 2 years actually. Hitching up, moving it around was getting old and waiting for the CVT to give up was not something I wanted to deal with.

Thanks! Had a '13 Outback 2.5 limited CVT, very nice but wound up being an oil burner despite a textbook break-in. It was my 3rd Subaru

Nice. Same jump I made :fistbump:

I like my taco better warts and all!

    Welcome!

Also my suby burned oil too. 2.5 boxer is a great engine but loves the oil.

Welcome to TacomaWorld, and hope the truck treats you right!

And agreed, the 2.5 boxer in the Subies is an oil murderer.

My wife's 2012 outback with 2.5 and cvt is going strong at 115k. No oil murdering so far. It is a way better daily driver and long trip vehicle than my taco, but it is not a truck.

Welcome! I had a '15 Tacoma, sold it and got a '15 Legacy, and about to pick up an '05 Tacoma and just have two vehicles. Love the damn things and you can't beat their AWD system.

Had I ordered the 3.6R and traditional 5spd Auto, I may still have the car. But then again, it was time for a truck.
    Thanks for the welcome guys!

We have a 2015 Outback 3.6 and a 2012 Legacy four cylinder. No problems with oil burning so far. Both great vehicles for getting around, and I wish I had the Outback's crawl mode in my recently purchased 2014 tacoma.

Having said that, the taco is way more fun, and i would sell a subaru for it any day!
