So I've been wanting to get some fog lights, but had the idea getting the same mesh I have for the grill (GrillCraft) and making fog light "covers" just to give them a custom look and make the front end a little cleaner. I can do this before I get the lights too and just install them behind the mesh.

You can see my MSPaint skillz below where i took a piece from the main grill, and actually dig the look. I think that, with some yellow LEDs behind them would look pretty awesome, I just dont know if it would make the fog lights completely useless.

Anyway, anyone ever done anything like this?

I suspect it might diffuse the light too much, but that's just my opinion.

    Thats what I'm afraid of..

Thats what I was thinking, though it'll probably cost me about $200 to find out... Might be worth it for someone who doesn't want or need fog lights and just wants that clean look though.

You will cut down the amount of output of the light and probably some of the spread. Depends on the pattern of the mesh. Probably more than 10%, maybe 25%, possibly 50%.

Before cutting up the mesh you could get an idea by doing a trial of holding the mesh in front of the light.

I actually got the closest matching mesh for $30 from them about a month ago for this, but it wasn't close to the same quality as the GrillCraft mesh. The diamond size and shape were right for the most part, but the 'gauge' was off by a good amount and looked pretty crappy next to the GrillCraft.

.. so to try something to see if it sucks it isn't good enough? You'd rather spend $200 and see if you like the idea of it and if it diminishes light output so bad you don't want to cover the fogs?

Not sure your logic makes sense here.

I was going to do this before I bought fog lights. $30 was worth it to me to have the look until I actually bought the lights, but at $200 I'm a little more hesitant. That, and I wanted to see if anyone else had already done something like this.

Hope this logic works for you.

Just bought the same GrillCraft MX Series mesh for $50 from a guy selling on Facebook marketplace. (originally for a Honda Integra)

Hoping I can get around to doing this in the next few weeks, but has anyone done something like this before or have any tips?
