Back to the Smoker Just what are you planning .

These plans are more toward throwing A cheap Cut of Pork or beef cooking it a low temperature till it is ready.

Not so much throwing on the Salmon you caught out of Lake Erie coming back a day or so later and your done using select wood to get your taste

Making assorted things people will smoke almost anything

Well I just started looking to this project.

It's probably more towards a "throw a cheap cut of pork or beefinto the smoker and call it a day". This guy is just a standup person and does a lot of projects to help me and his sister out. I thought it would be nice to put together a decent size smoker for him.

I watched few YouTube videos of people making smokers. I like the idea of up cycling food grade drums, or something of the like, but I also think building something from raw materials is badass.

His friend is in the smoking meet, but I don't think he's really in it to win a bunch of competitions. A simple smoker with some volume to get a couple racks of ribs on it would be a great fit.

Are you having any more thoughts on this? I really appreciate all your input so far!

Picked up a Lincoln 300D the other day. Good shape, 1500 hours, 2008, and new belts and filters. Scored it for a pretty good price. Little bit of cosmetic things here and there but it cranks right up and runs like a dream.

    This

I did my entire SAS and axle flip with one, badass machine. I use flux core, I don't care about spatter and once you get used to the machine it throws minimal spatter anyway.

    Hey welder guys/gals!

What consumables and miscellaneous equipment do I need for my new Hobart 140 MIG/Flux Core Welder?

I have never welded a thing in my life. I want to weld stuff around the house and for minor truck mods- nothing fancy.

I've been trying to find a welding class that will fit my busy work/family schedule. No joy.

So I'm gonna try to learn the hands-on way. With some guidance from you guys.

Needs recommendations based on your experience, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I'll get the angle magnets, gloves, pliers, welding apron/jacket at HF.

Already have angle grinders, drill wire wheels and wire brushes.

Anyone have a good recommendation for high quality brand/model of welding hood outside of Harbor Freight?

Also, anyone have a good source for welding wire and other consumables? Local or online.
I'll probably buy the 10# spools.

I have a local source for gas. Do I need to buy a tank? If so, what do you recommend?

Help a noob out. I need to weld a few things.

    Thanks,
    Lloyd

    OK, I went nuts today.

After ordering a Hobart 140 MVP from Northern Tool, I continued to do more price searching.

I checked my spam box and found that Tractor Supply has a 15% sale from 5-9 PM today only.

I scooted over there and they price matched the Hobart 210 MVP from their $899 to Farm and Fleets online price of $799. AND they took 15% off.

So final price was $699 + tax.

And I walked out of the store with it and didn't have wait for shipping.

I immediately cancelled the MVP 140 order.

    Happy Father's Day to me!!!

I use a Lincoln Viking 3350 not cheap $250 TO $350, but I used it every day at work. very comfortable. it's most likely overkill. I have never had a Harbor Freight helmet. there is not one close to me up here.
as for a jacket I use the green cotton one about $18 @ Mcmaster carr
gloves I use a mix match on my gun hand I use a leather work glove nothing fancy just flexible. my other hand I use heavier arch welding glove.

    hope this helps
