Hello, so I have a 17 TRD Sport 4x4 and I want to put a leveling lift as I am looking to run 285/70R17s. I have read many post on TW and have come to the conclusion most people liLe the bulstine and coil overs. I have searched the Internet for many hours and have called several vendors. I do want to stay away from spacers on the the front above the coils and go with coil overs or extended struts. The only company that I found that has full 3 inch extended strut lift is rough country. Bulstine and other brands only go to 2.5 inches. Also some people say to replace the upper arm control and others dont.

    Any suggestions?

this question has been asked so many times...

depending on your budget most people go with the bilsteins 5100 with the OME 888 springs to fit 285's but you probably still need to do trimming and CMC to fit without rubbing. 3 inch lift i would get new UCA. I have a 2 inch lift and am barely in spec without new control arms.

I would recommend talking to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road she'll steer you in the right direction.

See link in my signature below which will answer the questions on tire size and lift to fit. Bottom line no lift alone will increase the size of the tire you can run. If you want to run 285s you can run them on a 1.5" lift or a 3" lift but you'll still need to trim plastic and possible cab mount chop to keep them from rubbing at full lock, in reverse or when off roading. Lift alone does not increase the size of the tire you can run. If you want to run a tire that will not rub, largest you can safely go is 265/70/17 or 265/75/16 or 265/65/18

Thank you if I'm now considering going with 265/70 so I don't have to worry about rubbing do I realy need CO or can I safely go with spacers. I have heard CO are a much better ride but they are by far much more expensive. I do mostly city driving and dont go off road much except for the occasional camping trip. Is there a difference on the where and tear of the UAC ball joints between the two? I have seen UAC replacement with adjustable casters and all that but do I need that for a two inch lift?

    Thanks

You can do a 2 inch lift with bilstein 5100s and some OME 887 coils, you likely won't need UCAS for anything 2in and below.

Coilovers are nice because you can tailor ride height, that's about the biggest advantage but if you live in an area with snow and salt you'll need to stay on top of maintenance to keep them adjustable as they can be very prone to corrosion.

I have OME nitrochsrgers with OME 888 coils and an AAL with 285/70/17's on my 3rd gen and it fits fine without any rubbing. The only time it rubbed was in full tuck on the trails. YMMV. I guess I'm lucky.

The Nitrochargers come in one length without any adjustability. With the 888 coils, my DCLB 4x4 lift is around 2.5 inches. The read AAL added 2". The weight of my truck trimline is why it's lower than 3".

I have Method NV wheels in 17" with 0 offset and 4.5" backspacing.

Exactly they will rub if you put steering wheel all the way to one side and if you are in reverse usually. Never been a fan of tires that don't fit properly.
