Show me your winch solenoid relocation!

Alright guys looking for some pics of solenoid relocation setups. If you can, post pics of your winch/bumper setup and how you relocated your solenoid. Any info helps! Thanks

 

I have moved a few to inside the cab for other people.

No big deal just making some new cables to run to the winch

 

I never thought of that..I was thinking most people run it inside engine bay.

 

Right behind my grill. Zoom in and you will see it on the pax side.

 

No pics, but i put it in my plate bumper, in the passenger side void. It is tucked up underneath to where the only real room is to plug in the remote if need need be. But even then i put a switch in the cab, tapped in inside the housing so I can run both the cab switch or the outside control module without much grief.

 

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm about to install my front bumper next week with my winch and was curious as to how others were running their setup. I'll post pics of my setup once said and done.

I have a 3rd gen 4runner - similar enough. This is where I placed mine, perfect fit - no need to move the battery.

 

Not looking for any gen in particular. More or less looking for ideas on setups. The mod bug is real

 

Just installed a winch and relocating the solenoid is required. Winch wouldn't fit in ARB bumper with the solenoid attached.

Ran across this post on the topic of battery terminals and noticed a winch controller socket on a black box mounted next to the battery (in an unbelievably clean engine bay). Looks like a custom bracket/mount. Very clean.

Thanks folks, I did a write up in the 1st gen section but the title is not very searchable.

It actually describes two methods. One for an Optima and it's successor a Diehard/Odyssey.
The Optima had a "t-slot" on each end where the carrying strap hooks in. I put a bolt/washer out the back of the control box to hold it captive in this slot and ran a long hose clamp around the battery to stop any wiggling. The box would not go anywhere without the clamp but it would wiggle a bit. The Diehard set up is a combo battery box/control mount, no movement of anything possible.

Thanks for the info. Looks like a good solution. Is that box from the winch or is it a modified ABS enclosure of some sort?

Mine is next to the battery. The wireless remote is between the air box and fender.

Here is where I ended up putting mine. Had to make a custom mounting plate to mount it but overall I'm happy with it. Thanks for all the input!

 

Is this a pelfreybilt bumper Jake? if so did you have issues fitting the super winch fairlead bolts in the providing mounting holes in the bumper? if so what size bolt did you end up using?

 

I'm running a Brute Force Fab plate bumper and I didn't have any issues fitting the fairlead bolts in. To my knowledge pelfreybilt runs standard fairlead bolt mounting holes for their bumpers as well. Hope this helps!

 

The pre-drilled hole is just a tad to small so I need to buy a smaller bolt with some washers and a nut to hold the fairlead in place, or just buy the pelfreybilt fairlead
