I know there's lots of threads regarding the wheel topic and I have read every single one in this particular combo, but I still have not had my question answered 100%

Can I run Cooper ST Maxx 255/80r17's on my stock 3rd Gen?

As far as I can tell by the reviews and threads on the size and the brand of Cooper ST Maxx, I can, but I wanted to just see if anyone else is running this set up and if there getting any rub. Or if there is any other valid points/argument for or against that I've neglected to read about. I'm about to pull the pin and order them.

If you are running this set up could you post a pic?

Edit: My truck is DCSB Sport, manual with Tec package.

Lift alone won't fit larger tires. Too many variables at play including wheel offset and back spacing as well as alignment. There isn't an easy answer because there isn't a single correct answer due to the number of variables at play. You won't find a one size fits all answer. Every single truck and application is different. Even trucks with the same trim and options have some differences that can make an impact on this. No one single truck is the same as the next. Good luck.

The copy and paste seems to be working out pretty well, but not in this case

Nope not going to happen without a lift and still then you need a good bit of trimming!

I am running that exact tire with no lift and no rubbing. That said I think Smitty's response is accurate. some people have had issues fitting this particular tire and some of us have not. I took a shot after a bunch of reading and research and it worked out. Some folks have had experiences to the contrary so if you go with that size you are aware of the possibilities.

Thank you, this is what I found out too, even with the old gens, like @lightningcow was/is running this setup with no lift. I'm am aware of the possibilities of having rub. I guess I was just waiting for one person to give me validation. Smitty's response was not accurate it was just so broad that it literally could apply to anything regarding tires/lift, that being said he did get the conv going, so I'll give him a little credit ;)

Yep I always tell guys with TRD Pro the same thing when they ask about fitting 285/75R16s... some allegedly fit without rubbing. Others report rubbing. Even caught some guys saying they don't rub @jake slatnick then I found they change their story and say "oh well it rubs a little bit only when I'm at an extreme angle blah blah blah"...bottom line every truck is different and the safe size for a "non-rubbing experience" is the 265/75/16 or 265/70/17

Maybe no rubbing driving straight on the freeway ... how did it do on trails?

    Asking for a friend ...

no rubbing on "trails" mainly fire roads and gravel roads with small rocks(no boulders), some pretty rutty farm drives and going up and down the curb to get around to the back of my house to clean stuff out of my basement. I have gone forward and reverse at full lock(left and right) in a parking lot after installation to see if I would have to make any modifications or not before driving any real distance. So far no major flexing to give a fully accurate response. I do plan on going to Rousch Creek over the summer and I am looking to attend Mobtown Offroad's get together so I can't be 100% positive until I have tested in more extreme conditions. To this point so far so good. Make of it what you will.
