I'd pay 45-50K for a japan made Taco... oh wait no I wouldnt, why: because there wouldnt be ONE iota of a difference between it being made here with US hands vs Japanese hands.

Nah, we both know thats not what you meant actually. You implied since it was made abroad that it's somehow a higher quality vehicle, and that if our Tacos were made abroad they would somehow be better.

How one can compare an SUV to a truck (with leafs I might add) and equate the former of being better quality due to a better ride ....boggles my mind.

The vin number would start with a J. That would make a lot of people think it's better.

Wow you are trying to tell me how I think too. That is precisely what I meant, I should have elaborates better. Japanese quality is just on another level.

The only true way to know if quality is better is compare vehicle to vehicle. Have them make a Tacoma in Japan, and compare it to one made here or in Mexico. Guaranteed the quality difference isnt there. That's all Im saying.

I so agree with this, but our culture won't allow for it. We just teach our students that they can make a mess and someone else will clean up after them, it pisses me off so much.

Some parents here would sue the schools if they cleaned up.

At the dealer. All of the models coming from japan have way less issues. It's a QC issue. And the 4runner isn't 25% more because of the import. They are comparable to domestic. American and mexican fall short.

The 4Runner used to have the 25% tax. Which is why they switched to 4 door models instead of the original 2 doors. Toyota used to make Trucks in Japan and ship them to North America with a bed box in order to get around the tax. That caused many problems with rust.

Anyone who says the trucks made in Mexico vs USA are different is full of it.

I've owned one from each and both have been great.

A high volume service department manager said it to me.I think the build quality issues with the Tacoma has more to do with sourcing cheap parts from third world nations.
