I just saw them today at REI. Super cool! Thinking of buying one to run random accessories off of at camp and not having to be right next to the truck for electricity

You could make a DIY dual battery system for about the same price...well a little more maybe.

When a battery alone is 3x what he spent. Just saying
Just the components to do it well are 100-150 bucks. Not counting a battery.

and thats not even accounting that you SHOULD get matched batteries among other things.

But hey, yall do you. I car camp with a fridge. Dunno about you

I actually run a single really good battery now (northstar on my last vehicle) and found that even without solar i can run two straight days with just a 30 minute idle to top off. With solar, its indefinite. Since the camper will have a dedicated battery, no need to even do a dual battery anymore.

Its super overkill for 90% of us. And that being said, i spend alot of time off grid.

Real story though, check out renogy 100watt suitcases. They are small, and charge fast as shit. I was pulling like 6 amps with mostly sunshine. 7-8 in full sunshine, 4 on cloudyish days

    What hasn't been modified?
I've been looking at dual battery set ups for a while and love the idea of making one for cheep ^ but a few concerns.
    1. Having it wired automatically so when ya start the truck it connect both batteries wound be great but need some way of making sure the starting battery gets full first
    2. never mix acid and gel batteries! And using different age batteries of the same brand will quickly destroy both since ones life is already shorter it will kill the newer one faster.
