Idaho offroad

I just moved to idaho so I don't really know anywhere to go wheeling. So I was wondering if anyone on here is from idaho and could tell me some places to go. I'm near the boise area.Thanks for any help locating trails. Also if anyone knows a website that has trails listed that would be nice thanks.

 

Welcome to the area! I've been looking into starting wheeling (complete newbie), and know there are a few clubs in the area. There are apparently lots of old roads to abandoned mining areas, and in the summer you can see several 2-wheel trails winding up the mountains. I know of at least one guy who rode the ridge from Bogus Basin southward on an old forest road.

Am at work right now with a very restrictive internet filter, but will try to post some results of my research for you later on or IM you with info. I may even have a recreational map and a topo in my garage with some specific trails listed.

Boy Idaho is a great state for off roading!!!! The fun about it is just get out and start explorering...get lost a time or two,,,,Go see Tim @ Happy trails in Boise he can head you in the right way!
Also Idaho is a super state for ATV riding too!!!! Remember about 74% of the state is publicly owned!!!!!

 

I've never driven on anything off-road here except for a couple railroad/farm frontage dirt roads, but have been looking around. Here are some resources that may help, too.

Check out www.planet4x4.net for alot of locals. Most are pretty hardcore and the hardcore trails are very hard to find maps to. About the only way is to go out with a club. They try and keep them somewhat hidden from the public so they don't get people out there on them tearing them up and using them as a landfill so they can remain open. I need to come over and see some friends that just had a new baby. PM me your number and I will get ahold of you when I am over and I can introduce you to a few people and maybe hit a trail.

I spent some time near Marsing, about 40min form Boise, south of there is the 'Murphy SubRegion', there are some designated rockcrawling trails there but you'll need a map to find them. Stop by the BLM office in Marsing first. Also a fun place to take a dirtbike, over 500 miles of desert singletrack!
