Supposed to be for a cb antenna and a light. I didn't have either when I fabbed it so the holes may be a little close together. There's a write up on it all n the build with several pics with the lights mounted and working. Working on bed stiffeners now

Gotta get you guys into ham radio. The technician class test is so easy and it's so much more useful than CB! (Unless no one else you're talking to uses it!) And the antenna is only 17" tall!

ON a separate note, i gotta go do some "mods!" (ram mount mod, bed mat mod today. o_O)

Gearing up for next fabrication project..

Paint drying on the bed stiffeners. He'll tc wants $155 for them I think I've got &25 in materials. I agree about the ham and may go that route but everybody around here has cb's so I'd just be talked no to myself. Idk I do have a handheld cb so may take that and install a ham

I can't afford all this stuff these guys keep buying and half of it I'd want to redesign. Maybe I'm just cheap but I kinda like making my stuff if practical

The Ram Mount Grab Handle Mod

Thanks to @G.T. for documenting this. Navigating Ram's catalog is a total PITA, so knowing what to get was great. However, being sort of OCD i didn't like how the M6 bolt rattled around in the M8 hole of the Ram Mount. A little searching around on McMaster Carr produced these little "heavy duty spacers" that were supposed to have a slot.

    They didn't.

I was counting on the slot to get them to compress a little and shrink 0.015" to fit in the M8 hole. The mod required a mod:

    Some chamfering...

    And then pressing them together.

    Now we're talking.

If anyone wants some of these send me $0.50 in a self-addressed stamped envelope... just kidding. But i do have 23 more of them, so if anyone DOES want a couple let me know!

Now, this is an M50 with one nut (that's all I could get on there) and it still sort of swallows up the mount. Going to get some M6x60's and that should get the mount in the right spot.

Nice shiny new bed mat. Good thinking on the bushing for the ram mount I don't care for loose tolerances

Looks good, like the personal touch. You going to use it for a phone or a different device?

Driver side gps or phone. Passenger side for the HF radio controller when I use it. And sincere thanks for the part number!

Hi folks, I'll cross post this and continue to search but anyone know anything about or done a intake mod that isn't a full snorkel but gains a few inches of fording depth?

I'm contemplating an intake routed to the hood that could accept an added on bulwark.

I don't want to go full snorkel. As cool as it looks it is just a tad too far for me but why the intake is where it is makes no sense!

There's someone on here who routed it up in the firewall where the cabin air intake is I believe. Or maybe it was in behind the glovebox. Either way it was a simple mod that gained a few inches. Only downside is you hear the intake more since it's closer to the cabin.

I'll see if I can find a thread on it.

Try this thread, I'm thinking about it myself.

There was a thread on here where a guy fabbed a snorkel that ran inside the fender and took its air in just below windshield

I like your diy stuff! Really like that dashboard set up...my radio is junk and I want to put in an aftermarket head unit, might just have to follow in your footsteps a bit!
