I have a '17 tacoma, and I can update the startup screen with custom images. I want to upload a picture on my buddy's '16 limited 4runner as a prank, but his entertainment system is different than mine.

Is this possible? Does anyone have a link to instructions how to do this on a 16' limited 4runner? I want to do this quick without him knowing (I am pretty sure his wife will gladly give me his spare key to get into his car when he's at work).

The best part is that my buddy is so technically inept that he'll never be able how to figure out how to remove it and will be at my mercy. FYI... the picture I plan on uploading is my face.

I don't know if that is possible like in the tacos. I've read my manual 2x front to back, and don't recall being able to change the start up screen like the taco could. It may not be possible at all.

that's a bummer. maybe I'll just print out a picture and tape it under the flip cover of the mirror in his visor.

This thread has me thinking of so many funny and harmless pranks now. The first one that pops to mind is to wire his horn to go off whenever a turn signal is used. Hmmmmm

It's possible. It's in the manual so info should be accessible online. You need a blank thumb drive with the only the photo loaded onto it, using a specific folder name. Insert it in the USB and upload it. It's probably very similar to the Taco's process.

    Edit, here:

^^^yes, I stand corrected. It can be changed, the process is nearly identical to the taco.

    ...too much shit to list.
Long zip ties on the driveshaft is a great way to ruin everyone's morning. Tick tick tick tick tick.

Cheap harmonicas painted flat black and strategically placed in the grill, on the driveshaft, roof rack, etc also work exceptionally well at pissing people off.

Oh and stuffing a few kazoos in the tailpipe.

I think I found this to be more humorous than what it actually is... but the harmonica idea and the kazoos in the tailpipe... now that's funny stuff. I'd love to see something like this in person.

If I close my eyes & think hard enough, I can already hear the kazoos making that silly noise they make... and the harmonica! Don't even get me started on the harmonica....

Had an employee wire my horn to my brakes on my work vehicle once..... Had to drive around the airport for an hour getting all kinds of looks before I found the wiring. If yall have ever watched airport vehicles drive around on the ramp... lot of stops
