How to fix squeaky clutch pedal

On my 04 tacoma the clutch pedal started squeaking louder each day. I searched on here and found some info about adjusting the rod on the clutch actuator rod. I went to go do this and discovered that was not my particular problem. It was squeaking from the huge spring that returns the pedal to the rear. see pics.

You're missing the bushing....

I replaced mine about 3x in 5 years on my 96 tacoma.

Do a search...someone on this forum designed a metal bushing instead. Not sure how long that'll last compared to the original ones....but worth a try.

I have an aluminium rod that I am going to try and make a bushing like this out of, the concept is good.

 

Thanks, i had searched before i posted this, i guess i didnt use the majic search words,lol. I like the bushing idea, although i think if i pull the assembly out im going to try and get a real bearing on there bye sliding it over the spring.

 

I don't know how you would get a real bearing over the spring. There are two spring coils with the area that needs the bushing in the middle. The coils are pretty tight to force a real bearing over.
