Stay away from 3"+. Better to keep 2" or less.

6112 /5160 write up in my sig below. Otherwise try the suspension sub forum. You won't get much love here for anything using blocks spacers or over 3".... even 3" brings more headaches.

If 2wd you can look at maxtrac lift spindles

    This.

Anything over 3" is just useless and screams mall crawl.

    Unless, you know, it's SAS.

It sounds like 3rd gens have essentially the same travel as 2nd gens but sit 1 inch higher withing the factory suspension travel range. So three inches is more difficult with them than it was with 2nd gens. Pushing three will give you high CV angles (your truck is standing on its tippy toes with minimal down travel) unless you go with extended travel coilovers and UCAs to accommodate. Either way you'll prematurely blow CV boots.

All that said, if you get a good lift such as OME or Bilstein 5100s with coils on the affordable end or coilovers on the high end, and add a 1 inch body lift (4crawler or toytec) you'll be close to what you are looking for.

Here is my truck (2nd gen) with 3 inches from icon extended travel coilovers, a 1 inch toytec body lift, and 35s!

I've never understood the hate on drop bracket lifts. They get you more clearance under the belly where it matters for most real world wheeling. Not my cup of tea but still very effective on the trail. Personally I prefer a LCG for everyday driving though and bought the Old Man Emu kit. After coming from a 5" lift SAS my new taco feels like a sports car and hopefully only going 2.5 inches will keep some of that feel.

Rough Country, Zone, and BDS make 4 inch drop bracket lifts for the 3rd gen Taco's. BDS and Zone both have upgrade options available as well for their 4 and 6 inch lifts.
