Hi I just ordered a new set of headlights and would like a very white set of bulbs in my truck and saw these for 30 dollars. Will these fit my 2010 tacoma? Also if you have any recommendations on the Phillips or slyvania bulbs on which are the whitest you can get, would love to hear or see pictures. Thank you! My headlights are aftermarket, but are the oem style ones with the oem style bulbs/housing.

For anyone who comes in and comments, I'm looking for a very very pure white, like a light bar. I don't want much of a blue tint or any yellow tint at all. Thank you!

The quick answer: Yes, I think they'll work. I can't speak for the whiteness of them though.

The long answer: While those lights will work, there's a lot of hate (understandably so) on these forums for those who install HID/LED bulbs into stock OEM headlights. The big reason is because they don't have shields or reflectors, and they will blind oncoming cars, which is a safety hazard for both them and yourself; potentially causing a head-on collision at night. Trust me man, I was in your shoes not too long ago, and wanted to install HID's in my truck. The true and correct way to do this is to retrofit your headlights into projector lights. Which is what I'm currently in the process of doing. Great info can be found here, The Retrofit Group Buy, and here, Retrofitting Services for All Tacomas!, which will give you an idea for how much customization there is. It's not an easy process, but your lights will look incrediably white and bright, while at the same time not blinding oncoming drivers. Good luck.

Well shit, thank you very much. That answered every question I had. I will look into this on the headlights I was about to sell. Again thank you, have a good rest of your night!

Hi, I researched this subject and read on an older thread what's best for bulbs not to be too bright and illegal. My understanding is 35W 6000 HIDs are best for street driving.

My question: is it 35W per bulb, or 35W collectively for both bulbs? I'd really appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

You will not get white color LED light output from halogen bulbs without a significant heavy dark coating on the bulbs, greatly reducing their performance to be much worse than stock. The highest color I would suggest for halogen would be 4000k, but it sounds like you want 5500-6000k. As others mentioned you cannot just drop in a cheap set of LEDs in your halogen reflectors and expect good results.

Read the thread IronPeak linked to see why and look at the pictures of the effect on beam pattern.

First, because you didn't specify, I'm assuming you're talking about HID bulbs in projectors, right? If not, and you're referring to stock OEM halogen housing, it's a mute point, see above.

To answer your question about the wattage, it's rated per bulb. So each bulb will consume 35w of power.

As far as "the best bulbs", that's a debatable topic and everyone will have their personal input on what's "best". I will say this though, 5500K is about as pure white as you'll get, with maybe a hint of blue in it. Anything above that will start showing more blues to violets. It should also be pointed out that the more blue your headlights project, ie higher Kelvin rating, the more strain and fatigue it will have on your eyes. If you go above 5500K, night driving will be harder on your eyes. While they might look cooler, it's not helping your eyes see any better at night. This image from TRS is a great visual understanding on Kelvin output.
