    Hello folks,

New member here. (Thinking of purchasing the 2017 TRD Pro Tacoma)

I currently have a 2011 4Runner sr5 which I'm keeping as well. Need second vehicle for our family of four.

Any issues with the new generation Tacoma? Seems like there are a million recalls on it already.. what are your thoughts? Worth it?

P.s: 4Runner has 125k and runs like new still: I want same kind of reliability without doing any crazy maintenance

What's the 4Runner not doing that a Tacoma TRD Pro would?

If you have a family of 4 I would not recommend getting any new tacoma if anyone is over 6' tall as there is next to no leg room in the back. I'm 6'5 and there is no way anyone is sitting behind me. when I have the money, I'll be taking the seat out and replacing it with a fridge.

    I bet you can't list 5.

Not to me. But for different reasons that most folks around here will suggest.

While you didn't ask 'why' for the 'worth it' question, I'll offer 'my' view. It's too big, too ugly and too expensive for what you get. Then again, I prefer brunettes over blondes. :D

    I agree with @uhplifted. I'd either get a 4runner pro or tundra. I've got a 16 double cab Trd sport and the wife has a 16 4runner SR5 premium.

I need a SECOND vehicle. The 4Runner is amazing and can do anything a taco will do plus more, but me and wife share it. Time to get second car

    I'm the tallest at 5 10
Kids are 5 and 7 years old. The size of Tacoma is perfect for me. Only thing I'm concerned about are flaws and maintence

Well what are you looking for this second car to do? What do you do with the T4R now? Like I mentioned already, a new Tacoma is not a good family car. Keep the runner as the family car and use the Tacoma as an off road vehicle. But if that's the case, buy an older gen so you can beat it up and not feel bad about scratching/denting/damaging a $45k new truck. Unless you have a shit ton of disposable income, then buy the pro and go trash it.

I wouldn't hesitate to get another Taco. I'd never get a TRD pro. Waste of money.

Get a 4x4 SR or SR5, spend the extra on mods. You can add better lockers and better suspension for a LOT less than the price difference.

The flaws and maintaince aren't that big of a deal. I've had zero issues with mine. Even if your whole family isn't very tall, I still would not recommend a new Tacoma as a family car. get a new 4 runner instead.
