That's the issue of doing it on the cheap. Both batteries are charged equally and you need jumper cables if the starting battery is dead. Given the simplicity of the system it would be best to have 2 identical batteries to maximize the batteries. It has limitations but really is enough for 90% of the people out there.

You could also get a marine selector switch for the cheap...

If I decide to go dual battery I will most likely be cutting the cupholder behind my shifter (auto) and then installing it there... will also have to figure a way to fit twin sticks there with the switch and maybe a crawl box one day.

My truck is only my daily for another 2 weeks

And have high amp power lines in the cab. No thanks, I don't want that fire danger let alone the voltage drop tuning back and forth.

Maybe a high amp latching relay

Do you have the seat out?
It's still the fact your constantly reaching back there switching it. Or are you only linking them when on trips and not every day?

It's the same guy who, when a new member asked what he needs to get into overlanding, he gave a ton of posts about how overlanding isn't overlanding and it's just car camping unless you travel across continents.

No I still have the seat in. But you just pull the back and flip the switch. It's a 5 second operation.
I only link them on trips. Second battery is has the winch, air compressor, and fridge.

i might have to dig through your build for some info on that. I'd like a similar kinda thing, no need to be dual 24/7

I believe you can just install the switch on the positive side of the house battery. It would work especially well if you have solar too. Only need to switch it on if you are drawing to many amps for the solar to keep up.

Knew someone would have it. Who cares about high amp wires running through the truck as long as you run them a safe way you are fine.

Yep. Mine are ran through the factory rubber plugs in the floor, which acts as a grommet.
    And loom wrapped.
    And siliconed.

Siliconed into the loom wrap? That sounds kinda messy on application lol

Silicone on the rubber plugs. You have to drill out the rubber to shoehorn 0 gauge wire.

Ahh yes. Now I get it. I have done the same with plenty of wire in the floor of my truck

Any of you guys run 4gallon gas rotopax on your roof? Do they leak? I'd worry about having it sideways the whole time.

I would also worry considering my 4 gallon leaks and it sits on my bed rack.
