5100s are a cheap way to lift without using spacers but common feedback is they're over-valved or valved too stiff for these trucks.

I would never suggest anything over 1.5 on a 3rd gen. Yet. So that would be my suggestion...

Why wouldn't you recommend it yet? Sorry I'm brand new to the scene and was looking into lifting. I was also wondering if there is a way to lift with my current set-up. I know the off-road has good suspension and would hate to have to replace it. Although, from what I've been reading that might just be the price you pay. I'm not in a huge rush to do this so should I wait for a bit to see how everything plays out?

Sorry to hijack....but didn't want to start a new thread about a related topic.

My local dealership Shop is suggesting a ready lift leveling kit. 3 inches in the front and 2 in the back. Total cost plus labor is 700 and change. It would be put on a DCLBOR. Part number is RDY69-5212

It sounds the TW community is not too keen on this option? I do not rock crawl. I go on rough remote forest service roads is about it.

Will not get many recommendations because ready lift is not a very good brand (cheap shit), spacer kits are generally frowned on here and dealers overcharge for both parts AND the labor to install it.

OK thx for the opinions. I dont want to do anything that would effect shock angles, or have control arm issues, etc etc especially with a 17 with 450 miles now. Ride quality doesnt bother me much...its a truck with Nitto 265/70x17's. I guess in a perfect world or didnt care about spending more $$ I would just do 5100's all the way around with a 1 or 1.5 lift and call it a day.
Curious, with 5100's in the front only, do you notice any issues due to stock suspension in the rear?

Curious to learn more about this too. I was thinking of doing a leveling kit as mentioned above but that seems to be a poor choice. Are the 5100s an upgrade from the stock OR? They just replace the stock components on the OR and offer lift? Thanks for answering noob questions.

I'm running the Readylift block kit. 3" front 2" rear. Lifts the truck up nicely and ends up being perfectly level. The offroading I do is very slow and casual, so the block works perfectly for me. All I really needed it for was to fit the 285/75/16s I wanted. I would recommend the kit if your not doing anything crazy offroad.

How long have you had the kit installed? I'm pretty much just going over passes in Colorado and getting to remote hunting/camping locations. I'm not 4wheeling as a sport.

A 1/2" spacer is a great option to level the front. The only thing I highly recommend is replacing the three studs on top because the stock ones are too short for that additional 1/2".

As far as 5100s, don't bother if you plan on using stock coils. They give lift by preloading the coil, hence a shitty ride.

Another thing is that 4600s and 5100s are the same shock internally. The only reason 5100 is only preffered is because of the adjustable spring perch and because they're longer.

OP, if your only goal is to raise the front an inch, do a small spacer. If you plan on off roading at all, extended your front bumpstops so you're not bottoming out the shocks.

I've had it on for about a month now. Still would recommend it!
