Hi everyone - I’m about to join the family and buy a Tacoma for the first time!! - wanted to know if you could advise me on which one I should get. I’m switching from a car to a truck and I need at least a V6 for pulling a trailer once in a while; that’s why I’m getting a Tacoma and I’ve owned Toyota before and really like the reliability. So I recently spoke with a guy who has an ’09 Tacoma and he said that he was going to buy a new one, but he said that ’08, ’09 & ’10 were built better, so he decided to stick with the one he has. Would you guys agree with that?
    Thanks!

Look into 4Runners if you plan on not using a bed. They're more refined with a proven engine/tranny combo. And they tow just fine.

New Tacomas are having growing pains and it seems like you got a 50/50 chance of getting a good one or a lemon.

    Form follows function
'09 or newer he probable meant. There were some safety/traction upgrades then. '12 or newer have the updated look/interior that's pretty nice. Good luck!

I've got a 09 PreRunner that I bought 2 years ago. It's been a reliable, solid truck with no issues other than routine maintenance.
