Yep. Much rather have those wild fires that strip all the vegetation after month of drought, followed by mudslides when it actually does rain.

Same. I've lived on both coasts, 3 continents, metropolitan cities and 3rd world shit holes. Everyone thinks their city/state has the worst drivers. WA, especially the seattle area is one of the worst I've seen + with traffic that is only 2nd to LA.

I live in Alabama and a couple of months ago I took the same type damage. I had 27 dings from hail damage. I filed a claim and the estimate was around $2,200.00. I took it to the body shop this past Thursday for PDR (paintless dent repair). I got my truck back 24 hours later and the work was amazing. I cannot see 1 single ding left from the hail. I was very skeptical before having it done. It is truly amazing what they can do with PDR now. If anyone is wondering where I had it done it was at D&T in Anniston, AL.

Where in So Cal did you see hail like that? I've been in San Diego 39 years and have never experienced the type of hail that could damage a vehicle.

I had a similar hail claim on my last truck. They won't PDR the hood, they'll replace it. They'll PDR what they can't remove easily. Problem here is trying to paint match your color. Going to be really, really hard.

PDR in this case would be your friend....I wish you the best of luck, but if you're OCD, I doubt you're going to ever look at this truck the same again.

I think Ive seen your truck around. I was lucky enough to have my truck in the garage. I moved the boat inside, too when I heard the thunder coming. I think I'll be getting a new roof on the house.

    none yet/none planned! It's perfect!
My Wife's 2013 Ford Explorer got hit pretty bad and had some decent sized hail dents in it. After the paintless dent removal guy got done it was perfect. Even took out a door dent that was in it. I don't know how they do it but I don't care as long as the result is that good.

I remember seeing an episode of "FAST 'N LOUD" where good 'ol Richard bought a car that had hail damage. Two of his gas monkeys fixed the dents using a heat gun and a small rubber hammer. One heated the dent with the gun, and the other tapped it with the hammer and the dent popped out !! No damage to the paint. After they finished you couldn't tell it had ever been dented. Amazing.

It's hailed in 1-2 times a year the last few years in my area of socal. Nothing big enough to cause damage though (knocks on wood)

This happened to my Outback years ago. USAA was great to work with. Our town was hit hard and the repair jobs where months out so I took it to the next city over where my parents lived. My dad traded cars with me because he happened to live in the next city over. They did a great job and you could not tell anything ever happened. Really in the end it is just a truck. Sure you spent close to $40k on it but that is why you have insurance. If you bought the car as in investment you are crazy. Also if you are worried about loosing value to your investment (crazy thoughts...) then just bring it to Bozeman, MT when you are ready to sell it. My roommate just bought a 2008 with 120,000 miles with built in scratches, rust and a small dent for $22,000. People will always want used pickups so you will be able to sell it in the end and if they question a large repair bill on carfax tell them it was a hail storm and show them the storm pictures as proof. I think most people freak out about damage costs on carfax because if it was in an accident other things were probably knocked loose but with hail it is always cosmetic damage.

OP - Look up local body shops in your area on Yelp. Really good repair shops tend to not advertise and only local yocals know were to go for great repair work. I guarantee you'll find a shop that's been in business 20-40 years that has 500 positive reviews.

It took me 20 years to find the best mechanic in my area...found the business on Yelp and it was within 5 miles from me. It's the kind of place that has a waiting list if a week or two to get them to look at your car. Everywhere else around me is crap. These guys have been the best.

BTW I know what you mean about regional idiocy of people. I'm from the mid west originally and people are genuinely nice, have civility and manners for the most part, and know how to work and the importance of it.

I've been in Northern Virginia for 20 years, and I'm here to tell you it's a misery pit that seems to be getting worse. It's so bad that it has to be called Northern Virginia so as not to offend the rest of Virginia. o_O
