Hi Guys. Looking for help from the CB gurus out there.

First my issue and then how I have my setup installed.

Tuning location: Top of 7 story parking structure with buildings approximately 150 feet away in all directions and a freeway just a stones throw down 7 stories.

With my car turned on and my camper shell door OPEN, my SWR is reading slightly above 1 on channel 1 and 40.

With my car turned on and my camper shell door CLOSED, my SWR is reading is 2.5 on channel 1 and 40.

I have my antenna mounted between the tailgate and my rear passenger fender to the inside of the bed. I grinded the paint off prior to mounting. The coax runs behind my taillight, over the rear wheel well, along the frame and up the passenger side through a grommet. I had enough coax to run it behind the center console and out to the driver side of the center console. My radio sits to the right of my right leg.

    Midland 1001LWX
Francis 300-CB240 4' Hot Rod CB Antenna
    18' RG-58A/U Coaxial Cable With Pl-259 Connectors
FireStik SS-204A Adjustable stainless steel vertical door jamb mount

What adjust should I make to get the SWR down? Besides removing my camper shell door.

I've thought about that. Where do you run the coax through without drilling holes in the roof?

I had it tuned perfectly when the radio was on the passenger side and the coax was running through the camper shell/bed, through the middle windows and underneath the back seat to the front. But it rained and I had to relocate it cause I couldnt shut my windows all the way.
SWR was reading 1.2-1.5. Same mounting location for the antenna.

"I have my antenna mounted between the tailgate and my rear passenger fender to the inside of the bed."
Does this mean the antenna is inside the camper shell?

Negative. It's on the outside of the camper shell.

I ended up buying the Wilson Lil and will be relocating to the top center of the cab. Thanks guys.
