More questions for you locals. My wife in a RN and will be looking for work out there. We have seen lots of hospitals, but want to know what you guys have experienced from a local perpsepctive. Also any insight on local reputation for any given hospital. If anyone is employed in the medical field, bonus points for your insight.

Great info, thanks. She doesn't necessary care about pay, she just wants to be in a facility where the other nurses are happy to be there.

I'm a RN and can provide a little insight. What nursing background does your wife have? Where I work everyone seems to be happy and the RN to patient ratio is much better than some of the hospitals in the area. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

Update. Heading out to Phoenix Monday-Wednesday to tour some homes and get the wife excited about the move. Not putting any offers down, just meeting the agent so he gets a feel for what we are looking for in a house and neighborhood. We've been liking homes in the Cave Creek area, so we'll be spending most of the time out there.

Been awhile since my last update, but for good reason. Been busy with the house, cutting into my TW time. My CA house will be listed tomorrow. Heading out to Scottsdale again this weekend for some house hunting.

Gonna bump this thread rather than start my own...

Haven't been on in some time since I no longer have a Taco but I figured this was a good spot to get lots of opinions. So hello to everyone that has joined in the last 2 years or so. It looks like I'll be relocating to Phoenix in June or July (great idea huh?:bananadead:) from Kansas City. I'll be on my own initially so looking to just rent something for 6 months or so and then buy a house once I've had a little while in town to feel out where I'd like to live permanently. Working in downtown Phoenix, where would everyone suggest I rent? I'd like to be close to work and cheap, with cheap being the priority. My standard of living is not all that high (I'm just a year out of college), as long as the place is decently clean and my shit doesn't get broken into/ I get shot at regularly I'm pretty happy. What can I expect to pay for like a 1-2 bedroom apartment or a small house in various different areas? I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks in advance, hopefully I'll be able to get another 'yota before too long to join up on meets and wheeling trips. I also will have my bike ('05 ZX-6R) if anyone else rides.

Any chance you can share with a newbie? I'd rather find out the easy way than the hard way.

When it rains disregard the the speed limit and do not exeed 30 mph...even on the highway.

In all seriousness though, do not exceed 80 mph even in a 75 zone. They call in criminal speeding or something to that nature.

Got actual cross streets? Downtown is a vague description in Phoenix IMO.

Sounds a lot like Maryland drivers too, well except for the getting shot part. MD gun laws are pretty strict. Thanks for the clarification.

North of there is probably best.

Current traffic at 8ish of a holiday summer week.

Time for another update. My CA home is in escrow, as well as my new place in Scottsdale. Looks like we will be moving out mid July. Countdown is on!

Since I have seen this post, here is my insight into medical work.
My wife is a licensed pharmacy technician and has over 5 years experience in the field. Currently working for OmniCare/CVS narcotics department and was looking for a long time to get a pharmacy tech position in a hospital and is IMPOSSIBLE to land a job unless you know somebody on the inside. Tens of applications and resumes sent and no call back from the hospitals HR.
AZ is one of the locations where nepotism and inside connections are a must if you want to get something in most of the fields. Also be ready at any time to be fired or lay off and replaced with an Indian or Mexican like.
She still applies to hospitals but hopes are zero.
