    Fellas,
I am looking at some steel rock sliders finally, (after being crapped on for the whole aluminum debacle), and don't know if I should pay to have them powdercoated by the vendor, or if I am better off rattlecanning them myself. What has everyone else done?

Rattle can them. The powder coat will not hold up to rock hits. It will be hard to touch up. Rattle can is cheap and easy and when needs to be touched up you just spray more on

Unless you get a really good deal on the powder coat, I'd use a can. They will get scratched up If you actually use your sliders for what they are designed for. Can is easy to touch up.

Rattle can those mofos, self etching primer and bed liner works just as good, you're always going to have to touch em up anyway

Bed liner flakes off in larger pieces when you hit them on stuff. Not a big deal but more area to have to fix

Not the Rustoleum stuff, at least not for me after using a self-etching primer. Mine scratched off just where rocks scrap it, no chipping or flakes at all.
