Fuel filter replacement

I know for sure there is no inline filter on my 2015. Just the sock on the pump inlet inside the tank. No reason to swap that out as it won't clog up. I've even reused them on other vehicles when the pump needed replacing.

 

Here is the OEM fuel filter, for the 2005 - 2015 Toyota Tacoma, in the picture.

 

So it's a filter on the pump and not a sock? Either way that's a decent amount of work to get it out.

 

No. The sock is on the bottom of the pump. The pump fits inside the plastic cylinder, in rhe middle of the picture. That plastic cylinder encases the filtration material.

You're right though. A lot more work than replacing an external filter.

My modded external filter is now a screw on. Even easier now. One minute job.

 

Cool, well thanks for the info. I guess I'll keep that in mind as my truck gets up there in mileage.

I would definitely prefer the older style external filter to something inside the tank.
