Ditra Heat mat arrived today so I set it in place (roughly) to make sure I had enough and to let it flatten a bit more. I sheathed the shower 1/2 wall and did a few other things to prep for the hot mop guy. If I could just get him to call me back...

    :annoyed:

I'm moving the shower slot drain as it was too close to the wall. The old location is where the white drain is, new location will be close to where the slot drain is sitting. I just didn't have time to cut a new hole today.

Our floor tile arrived today so we picked it up. Floors will be that dark grey, shower walls medium sized white subway, counter top and shower threshold horizontal surfaces will be the white quartz and the vanity will be a walnut type wood (wood in pick is reddish and is just scrap - actual wood will be not be reddish).

    Things are moving along...

Nice tile seam alignment! Are you getting a lot of customers requesting those recessed spaces? I have seen this on about 4 bathroom remodels in the last year, and I would think they would be terribly troublesome for mold and mildew.

I have 2 niches in my shower , no issues

If they get waterproofed the same as the rest of the shower , in my case with Schluter board and kerdi , there is no reason why there should be more of an issue with mould than anywhere else in the shower

If you've got that much pressure coming out of the meter, I'd consider running galvanized pipe in between the meter and the pressure reducer. I'd also recommend getting the highest quality PRV from a specialty plumbing supply store, not a big box store like Lowe's or Home Depot.

Another slight issue I see is the direction the pipe runs. I don't know if you have the room, but if it's possible to redo the pipe in between the PRV and the house to eliminate any 90's that would help a ton with plumbing longevity. High pressure anything doesn't like to make 90° turns.

I was told there was a difference in quality between the PRV's from supply house vice box store. Guess there was something to that advice. I know the price difference is about $100.

Did a little research and found that hot mop shower pans are a West coast thing. Didn't realize. My understanding is it's basically the same as hot mop flat roofs but done for the shower pan.

Any reason you're not just using a dry mortar pack and Schluter Kerdi ?
