    Hello -

I am looking for new rear shocks for my 2006 RWD extended cab Tacoma. I use it as a contractor so I carry a lot of weight in the back all the time. I am looking for a recommendation for a good heavy duty shock.

    Thanks!

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Shocks control springs, they don't 'handle load'.

Upgrading your capacity either with new spring packs, helper springs or air bags would make a huge difference.

To review those choices, and shocks that would be complimentary to the spring decision, call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road

Bilstien 5100 will do just fine if you don't want to replace the leaf springs. I would also recommend some firestone ride rite air bags.

I don't carry a huge amount of weight, and am aware the leaf springs hold the weight. I have heard of heavy duty shocks but am unsure what they are. Basically I want a good stock replacement shock, nothing fancy.

Are Bilstiens more meant for off-road use? I never drive off road.

They are good for everyday driving, doesn't matter what on or where. Unless you want to be cheap then get some Monroe shocks from AutoZone
