Almost, it's one side of my trailer. I repainted it Tan and am going for the 80's decals on the side. I'm making my trailer box (it's on it's side, tailgate is to the left) look like an 80's Land Cruiser.

Also Dave, looking at www.radioreference.com it appears that you guys use Motorola radios in your units, so you wouldn't be able to tie into the radio system in an ermergency with one of these, since the Motorola SmartNet system trunks connections and possibly is encrypted. It is possible, however, to tap into some municipalities and organizations radios and operate this unit like a police scanner. However, the only problem is this unit isn't locked on those channels, so if you were doing that and hit transmit, you could actually talk to dispatch, which is why these radios aren't licensed for scanning, because we are absolutely bound not to interfere with any other licensed radio operations. I have no idea how it would work being a LEO, but even as a Ham I can only talk in an emergency that involved the chance for loss of life or property.

Do you still have your stock steel spare? If so would you be interested in parting with it?
Welcome, and it's nice to see a 1st gen here.
I definitely got to get in on this.
    I like it!
I do this but with slides, I don't like the thing between my toes.
So Lee @fajitas21 would you not recommend the MXT400 model then?

If you never plan to go past GMRS (essentially if you never plan to obtain your Ham license), it's the best choice for GMRS. However, it's $250. The TYT TY-7800 is around $215 and it can do both 2m and 440 (GMRS) channels, has better sensitivity, more output power, and has a detachable face to remote mount, all for less than the cost of the Midland MXT400.

Is the MXT400 a good radio? Yes. But it's essentially like buying an 8k winch, if there was a 10k winch that costs less, weighted less, and was smaller. It just doesn't make a ton of sense unless you really want that unit.

Either way, it's still a good unit, the TYT is just simply better in every way.

BTW, update. Both sides are painted and striped. Inside, top and bottom are bedlinered. I siliconed the seams to keep leaking to a minimum and keep the hard to reach places from rusting as fast, and I'm repainting all the hardware to match.

About to start stripping down the frame of parts to prepare for a new axle and some mild modifications to make it more Expo-y.

Here's a quick shot of the wet gloss coat, it's still drying.

Man, the paint job is so bad on this. Next trailer I'm gonna use my airless sprayer or at least a pressure pot and do this right. But I had a lot of this laying around, and it's a proof of concept for funzies.

I'm liking it lee, paint doesn't matter much, it will get a dent or scratch and never be perfect. In doing POR15 on everything except inner tub then spray painting then POR Bedliner fit the inner tub

POR15 is good stuff, can't find it around here. I'd have to order it online. However, did the underside of my Travel Trailer with that and it was good to go.
