Should an alignment be done before zeroing the VSC?

UPDATE - problem solved, took the truck to the local tire shop this morning and got them to do an alignment turns out that my steering was off by 12 degrees. After zeroing out my steering and resetting VSC the problem is solved! Thanks you guys for helping me out on this one!

So, how did it get off by 12 degrees, with only a tire swap?

I asked the same question and was told that the other shop that did the alignment after I put my lift on probably never zeroed out the steering and with bigger wheels and tires my truck is pitching enough to make the 12 degree problem kick in VSC

And the shop that did the original alignment is now out of business so no surprises there.

Well I thought it was fixed and then it did it again, @scottalot how do I need to check that? On flat ground it has plenty of clearance

This is odd. As scottalot said make sure all the steering components are not binding. Park on a slope and turn the wheel to the stop in one direction and check, then do it the other way.

You could also use a go pro under the truck to record the action while driving. Try and see if you can figure out how to duplicate the issue.

Figured out that the tires are contacting the UCA when the truck is leaning into a turn. On a flat surface it clears but in a turn it contacts pretty vilantly, so I guess the only thing to do is go with wheel spacers or completely change the suspension. I'm not set up right now to change the whole front suspension and have worries about running wheel spacers so what do you guys think go with wheel spacers and hope it doesn't mess up the VSC or sell the new wheels and tires and go back to stock? I'm kinda at a loss at this point.

How were you able to figure out it was rubbing?

    I have 265/75/16

And really want to know for sure before I start jumping OBD pins

    Thanks

I basically took the front tires off and all I had to do was look at the UCA and it had rub marks on it right in the middle, with tires back on I couldn't see that part of the UCA so I never knew it touched. Sitting still with the wheels straight it's no where near the UCA but when you turn the wheel it went down greatly in clearance to the point I could barely fit my pinky finger between tire and UCA mid point. Take into account the bank of the turn and the lean of the truck at a decent speed in a corner and you have the UCA contacting the tire and not allowing to turn till it equals out.

Yes sir @scottalot thanks for your help man! I'm just trying to decide now if wheel spacers are worth it or just go back to factory. Decisions of a Tacoma owner :frusty:

How do these guys get away with running this size tire on a 3 inch lift? Must be a mid travel suspension set up?

I got these wheels on Craigslist for a heck of a deal and the guy before me said he had no issues with rubbing and he was running a leveling kit. Not sure on that one.
