Damn 4Runner people.

 

Anyone here ever ride a bMW GS?

 

It was just a matter of time. They are awesome and work on other cars! haha. I saw a ton of subarus and civics in yosemite with them. Pretty smart actually for smaller vehicles because opens up some storage inside where a tent would have been.

Expos existed long before this fad. I blame social media and the marketing geniuses who made it cool to buy one brands old model rtt's, with a different name on the side. And that you can walk into REI or mountain air and buy one. On the upshot I haven't had to explain to anyone what "that gray box on the truck" is in a long time. Now it's just dorkel questions.

 

I don't get why people really care if there is a tent on a car lol.

Haha! Was creating 2D drawings all day so I forgot to turns my caps lock off. I promise I wasn't yelling.

 

Anyone here going to the REI garage sale tomorrow in Oxnard?

 

Went to remove my remove my rear shocks and am getting my ass kicked on the process. First the bolt on top of the shock was seized, so I cut the nut off. Now that I finally have that situated the bottom bolt won't come out. I'm not familiar with which way the bolt usually goes in, but it makes much more sense for it to have been installed so it can be hit from the inside with a hammer to be pushed out. Im pretty sure the bolt was flipped around before I took it to Toyota SB for the leaf recall, but I have no pictures to confirm.

Any ideas on how to get this bolt out?

 

If you can stick a pry bar under the bottom of the shock to push it up a bit, you should just be able to pull it out. I'm not sure which way the bolt goes in either and I don't have my truck here or I would go look for you.

 

Gonna go try that and report back. I really hope it's that easy because I'd like to drive to work tomorrow lol

 

Yeah, Maybe put a pair of vise grips on the bolt head, so you can yank it out as you're prying up on the shock.

 

That's what I'm thinking, I tried to maneuver it out while prying with a chisel but I'm gonna look around for something better to pry with.

 

Dumb question but somebody has to ask, are you fully drooped?

 

You might try your tire iron. One end should have a flat part to stick in there to pry up on the shock.

 

Yeah it's fully dropped. I'm gonna go back out and try a bit more now that I've gathered some ideas, I'll be back with some type of news

Well than the crowbar/giant screwdriver idea will do the trick!
