I put my '04 rubber mats in my '07 and went to start it the other day, like usual in 20 degree weather I pushed accelarator to floor twice before cranking engine. With my foot off the gas I cranked engine and rpms started to rapidly increase. So I quickly turned key off. I was quite flustered and said what the &8?!#@ just happened. Well, accelerator was stuck on one of the ridges on my rubber mat. So I would tend to agree with operator error.
Needless to say I'm going to buy mats made for my year of vehicle.
    Just my 2 cents.

I love my truck but the cc does suck. I used it twice while carring my quad up the 5 frw. If you are on flat road no incline it works great but once you hit a incline and your speed drops below the set speed it sreams until it passes the original set speed by 3-5 mpr then it settles down> It will continue to do this till you pass the incline. I had a 1992 s10 that I sold a month ago and would use the cc on the same road and did not have this problem.

I have to admit - I got the SR5 because of the Cruise Control, and I am disappointed as well. Just like you said, it is fine on a flat road, but horrible if there is an incline. My wife's 2006 Rav4 V6 is the exact same way. :(

I have no clue if this will help as far as not being able to duplicate the problem you have experienced when you bring your truck into the dealer. I was a Saab tech for 35 years, and learned rather quickly, you must take the owner of the car out with you on the road test, maybe several times, to observe not only what the car is doing, but also what the customer is doing while driving. Alot of dealerships do not do this, and try to duplicate the complaint with not much success when the problem is occasional. Is the problem only when the driver is operating the truck or when anyone operates it?
I had a similar problem with my tacoma when it was fairly new. Sudden acceleration when braking and i discovered my boot was getting caught between the brake and gas pedal. I am not saying that this is the answer to all, just something i observed i was doing without realizing it.

Hey, sunrunner19, long time no hear!

I think this is a common problem. Especially when going from a "domestic" vehicle to a "forgein" vehicle. I have noticed that my old Suburban or Ranger had much larger petals much further apart than my Honda or Subaru or Volkswagen or my Tacoma.

That is what my question is: Is this operator error or misplaced frustration?

I love virtually everything about my truck, but one thing I would change would be a little more space between the gas pedal and brake. I have caught my size 11 shoe on the gas on 2 occasions while braking.
