My truck's analog speedometer reads approximately 1 mph higher than the digital speedo. Is this common? Found this to be the case at various speeds, with and without the cruise control set.

Can I correct the digital (+ 1 mph) to match the analog? Not a big deal in the cosmic scheme of things.

My cursory search of the forum didn't see this addressed in prior posts. If I missed it, sorry for the redundancy.

    Thanks.

it could be an illusion. because the analog speedo is not directly in front of your line of sight, you are actually seeing the needle look like its below the digital indicated speed. go drive, set the cruise at like 40mph indicated on the digital and shift your head to the right so your line of sight is directly in front of the analog. it should read right on 40mph on the analog.

It will be nice when OEs move to GPS based speedos.

That will take all the guesswork out, allow tire/gear changes with no readout errors, etc.

From what I am reading now, my 1 mph delta is quite inconsequential. Time to look for more important things when I'm driving my truck, like a ramshackle, weathered barn in an emerald green pasture, or a young muley buck stotting away as I come over the next rise.
